    Unable to download via Ethernet


    Hi all,

    I am experiencing a possible connectivity issue. When my Xbox One X is connected via wifi, I can download games no problem. The is around 16-20mbps which is quite slow. However when I connect my Xbox via Ethernet cable, my download speed are showing 400-420mbps but the downloads stop completely and get stuck.

    The Xbox is definitely connected to the internet via Ethernet as I can access online games, Xbox store etc.

    I have tried doing a power cycle on both the console and router, I have cleared MAC addresses, I have changed DNS to 8888, 8844 and also tried 1111, 1001. Nothing seems to work!

    However if I were to unplug the Ethernet, the download will continue as normal at around 16mbps

    This is driving me nuts

    I’m having the EXACT same issue on both an Xbox One X and an Xbox Series S.

    Do you have a Windows PC as well? I’m seeing the same issue there on the Xbox app, but downloading on Steam works just fine over Ethernet.

    Hi Rostom,

    Looks like it worked changing the port on the router. I’ve gone from 16mbps wifi to 180-200mbps download via Ethernet.

    Hi Marius! Sorry to hear about the issue. Let's do our best here to figure this out.

    Is this your first time trying to connect your console via Ethernet cable?
    To isolate the issue, please try to use a different Ethernet cable if available. On your modem/router or gateway, try to connect the cable to a different Ethernet port.

    It's possible to be a router configuration issue, I would suggest if possible to factory reset your router to reset its configuration and try connecting it again via Ethernet.

    Are you connected via wireless or by ethernet cable?

    If it is wireless, try hooking up via ethernet for the duration of the download.
