Unable to download Red Dead Redemption 2

I need some help troubleshooting a download / install of Read Dead Redemption 2. I purchased the game from the digital Xbox Store and when the game download starts it gets to 1.29GB and then errors. If I try to restart the download,
it will just error out again. If I delete the download and start again, it will get to 1.29GB and then error out. I get an error code - 0x87e00005. I have tried restarting the console, holding the power button to reset it and I have even tried to "erase
all console settings". No matter what, the download stops / fails at 1.29GB. I do use an external hard drive that has 3.4TB of free space left, so not sure what else could be the issue.

I checked this for my and my brothers account and that is the result. Looks a little bit strange or? On My Account the Ultimate Edition is listed twice. I think this is not correct and on my brothers account ultimate edition is missing. Pre-Order Bonus is
correct, because i have it bought and my brother not.

We understand that there is an issue being experienced involving not being able to install Red Dead Redemption 2 onto your Xbox One console.

Our suggestions here as follows:

• Attempt all variants of Restarting the Console
• If this does not assist, attempt performing a Soft Factory Reset

This can be done by selecting Reset and keep my games & apps. You should use this option as your primary choice when troubleshooting. It will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data
without deleting your games or apps. This will save you from downloading or reinstalling the large game files.

Note: This step will remove profiles, so be sure to keep all information for signing into any/all accounts.

Try this for us and let us know if this works.

Also, Javier does have a good solution. But I would not factory reset the console unless you attempted the solutions in the above article (it'll save you the trouble reinstalling all your content)

This is a digital download, so that article I believe applies to installing from a disc.

Also, before posting this question, I tried the items in Javier's list - ie, soft reset and rest all "keep my games and apps". I also tried downloading the game to a different hard drive. Again, all attempts to download the game stop at 1.29GB.

I'm sorry to hear that this issue is persisting. We would love to get further resolved for you, for this we do have a few more questions. Have you attempted to install any other digital game to see if it has the same issue of stopping at a certain point
through out the installation? If not would you be able to try to install a short game to see if this issue is linked just to Red Dead Redemption 2 or if it happens to every download.

Also, have you tested your network connection to see how the speeds are currently running? If not go ahead run a network speed test:

1. Press the Xbox button
   to open the guide.
2. Select System > Settings.
3. Select Network > Network settings > Detailed network statistics.
   

Your console will run a connection test and display the detected download speed. In case it shows a low download speed, on our article

'Troubleshoot slow game or app download on Xbox One' it shows an estimated chart on how long it may take with certain download speeds and it shows as well possible solutions to improve the network speeds.

Great questions. Yes, I have tried another game while this issue was happening. I was able to download and install PUBG (20GB) quite successfully. My download speeds are in the 100Mb/s range.

I also tried the following:

1.) removed Xbox Live account from the console

2.) went "offline" in network settings

3.) power cycled the console and removed the power cord - each for 10 seconds

4.) went back online with my network

5.) re-added my Xbox Live account to the console

6.) attempted to download RDR2 --

Exact same error - fails at 1.29GB

It's interesting to watch the download rate as the download reaches 1.29GB. The download rate will be at the 100Mb/s range and then decrease quickly to 80, 50, 30, 10, and then into the kilobyte range. Once the download rate hits 0Kb/s - the download will
stop and the queue will say "Installation stopped". The console will then attempt to resume the download and then it fails again. ...it will repeat indefinitely.

 

Try deleting the account and log back in again...

Sometimes download issues can be attributed to a network, if certain protocols are blocked; they could prevent certain content from being downloaded to the console. I recommend attempting to download the game from another network, either from a hotspot as
a temporary fix, or another ISP/ connection from another location.
