Unable to download GWG via website - not available in your region

I've checked the FAQ/ stickied threads and I'm sure im not in the wrong region etc. I've made purchases fine on Xbox one and it all shows as in GB (UK) region everywhere.

I'm trying to download gears 3 for the backwards compatability (if it appears on there ever)) from the website store. I no longer have a 360 console to try on there.

Account region: UK

Physical region: UK

Internet Service Provider (ISP): Virgin Media

You are unable to download it because the region on your account and your actual location do not match. You need to be in a region where it is available and your account also needs to be from that region.

 

Games with Gold always downloading as corrupt!

Yes I understand region locking. I just don't understand why all of a sudden gwg titles that are not region locked download is corrupt. If they are not available in my region they do not even download. These newer titles have downloaded but have downloaded
as corrupt. Whatever. The recent titles have been *** anyway

Fyi use tracemyip then provide them with the trace info

They will see where the gateway info needs to be changed

 

Please note the xbox one and 360 marketplace isnt the same are you switching to the uk from the 360 website?

It defaults to the us

Yes I'm sure I'm on the gb store as it shows the price in £

 

I'm pretty sure the issue lies with the game being free on 360.

If I try to buy anything else from the website, even dlc for Gears 3, that all works fine. Even the other free gameson xb1 work perfectly okay.

 

Hi, Im having that exact same problem as well, everything set up and showing uk, also using virgin, and I cant get gears 3 either added using xbox.com, keeps "saying not available in your region" despite getting every other games with gold for the 360 through
xbox.com. Got hold of support and they didn't know why it was happening and told me to post here! any ideas how i can fix it?

 

Easy do. A trace route

Sometimes thw isp will rpute you wrong thru a wrong gateway

Keep in mind you are better off using the console

The website has to be changed to uk

Dlc rarely is region locked only examples of region lock on dlc is cod games only because of the content

Traceroute will show you how your ip is routed

If it goes to ireland then thats a bad geoip

And ulyes routing does count

 

Fyi you cant get the game even if you have a reset of your dns

So you can't download it via the website at all? (By download I mean tell it to download on your 360).

I used to have a 360 so its not like I've never owned it.

 

You can but for non xbox 360 players you need to have a 360 on to show you have a console for compatibility

Its checking for ntsc or pal console

You cam initate a buy from a friends console or a rental

 

Right but I did have a 360 previously (multiple thanks to RROD) so shouldn't I already be ticked good to go? Others have said they've downloaded from the website store no problem at all, so am I just blacklisted due to inactivity you think?

 

Hey, KRadiation! For this particular game, you will need to go through the console to get it for free. This issue tends to crop up if you haven't got a game for free on the website yet, however it's not the case for everyone. I suggest reaching out to a
friend who still has a 360 and seeing if you can get the game there. If not, please let us know so that we can look into it further!

I have a similar problem downloading this game except I am trying from X360 console (and also tried from marketplace/xbox store). Here is my situation -

Account Region: India (a/c migrated from US to India 3 months ago upon my relocation)

Physical Region: India

Console: NTSC (purchased from US)

Payment Info: Relects Indian CC info on the Xbox a/c and on the console

Billing Address: Reflects the correct indian address on the Xbox a/c and on the console

Locale on Console: Shows India

Problem: Unable to download Gears of War 3 Live Gold x360 Free download either from Console or Xbox Store/Marketplace

Message from console: "This game region does not match this console. It will not be downloaded"

Message from marketplace: "This content is not available for consoles in your region"

Contacted Xbox Support (over the chat), tried all options - Clearing system cache, re-downloading profile etc.. But none of the options which they suggested could solve the problem. The Xbox Cust Rep hit a dead end, created a ticket and said he will escalate
the issue and also take it up the issue with the game developer and also with approriate group within Xbox team.

I had no problems downloading other region-locked games earlier since my a/c has been migrated from US to India 3 months ago. This is the first time I encountered the problem. I am not sure if it is account/region settings issue or game specific problem.

One of the users (ngocphi) has earlier suggested that GoW3 requires Account Region-Physical Region-Console Region to match for it to download. However the Xbox Support Rep contradicted this saying that Console Region matters only for Disc games and for digital
content (i.e Live Gold games) it only checks for Account Region and Physical region match (without any consideration of Console Region - NTSC/PAL etc..).

Can you please clarify on this issue i.e For some games such as GoW3 (this month's Live Gold free game for X360), does Console Region need to match with my Account/Physical Region? Is that the reason why I am having the problem downloading this game Or is
there some other issue?
