Why when I clear the cache does it not ask me to do a system update when I log back in?

The Xbox system update uses a different storage method and therefore, is not affected just by clearing the Xbox system cache.

Clearing the Xbox system cache will effectively remove cached data and previously downloaded title updates.

Yes, we transferred his profile while I was there at his house.

I have also tried resetting my modem with no luck. We also tried resetting my buddies modem and it didn't help.

The failing console you have, is this an Xbox 360 with the 4 GB internal flash memory and an additional hard drive?

My firm belief is, this issue is likely not going to be resolved from your end.

My advice is to visit: https://myservice.xbox.com And request a repair. If this product is still under warranty, they will repair it for free.

It's a Gears of War console. Will I be charged again? I just got the console back and it was sent in because it would download a system update.

In-warranty service: If your Xbox 360 console was serviced within the original warranty period (free repair), you receive either the balance of your original warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer.

Out-of-warranty service: If your Xbox 360 console was serviced out of the original warranty period (paid repair), your serviced console will have a 90-day warranty

Same problem when connected via Ethernet cable. Downloaded my profile to one of my kids 360's just fine and other content downloaded fine as well. I move my profile to my console and I can't connect again.

Now, let's try with the following steps up front and let us know how that goes.

Delete Xbox LIVE profile safely.

Before you delete your profile you have to know the username and password for your Microsoft account that is associated with your profile.

Go to Settings, and then select System.
Select Storage.
Select All Devices.
Select Gamer Profiles.
Select the gamertag that you want to delete.
Select Delete.
Select Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements.

Clear Xbox system cache.

Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
Select Storage or Memory.
Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller.
Select Clear System Cache.
Repeat this process, 3 times in row.

Restart your console.

Download Xbox LIVE profile.

Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller (large X button in the center of your controller).
Select Download Profile.
Enter the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox LIVE gamertag.
Enter your Microsoft account password.

Hello,

today I have been unable to connect to xbox live on my account on my xbox 360, I have tested my internet connections both on wireless and via cable and both work fine, I can log onto my account on my pc.

I cant play my game due to updates required...but I cant download this update due to not being able to connect to live, I also cannot play games I have downloaded from gold either. My home screen is also taking ages to load now and I didn't have this problem
the other day.
