    unable to deploy UWP from Visual Studio to Xbox Series S

    I'm trying to deploy a UWP package to my Xbox Series S:

    • PC developer mode enabled;
    • new VS 2022 UWP C# project;
    • configuration target x64;
    • target version 'Windows 10, version 2004';
    • Xbox Series S developer mode activated;
    • remote machine 'XBOX' detected on same network;
    • successfully connected to Xbox via web browser
    Build succeeds, deploy fails, error message:

    "The Visual Studio 2022 Remote Debugger (MSVSMON.EXE) does not appear to be running on the remote computer".

    I have tried restarting my project 3 times now, tried combination of WiFi and LAN cable, all result in same error.

    Any ideas?

    :)

    Hi Tomm_A,

    thanks for the detailed reply.

    I tried following your troubleshooting steps several times, it didn't work.

    I have been following this guide which seems very similar to your troubleshooting steps: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/xbox-apps/development-environment-setup

    I have already posted a similar question: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/a...)(xbox)-unable-to-deploy-uwp-to-xbox-series-s

    They responded telling me to post my question here.

    One thing I've noticed is that I've tried removing paired Visual studio pins, and on re-build and deploy, the Xbox device doesn't ask me for new PIN again. Is that preventing the app being deployed? How do I remove the paired PIN or force clear the dev memory? Reset console to factory settings?

    Hello N Vo,

    Greetings!

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    It seems like the issue you are facing is related to the remote debugger not running on the Xbox Series S. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

    Before we proceed any further, we would like to set your proper expectation that we have a dedicated support team where issues encountered by developer is posted where more expert can share the resolution to your concern. We will help you provide related information and help you get to the dedicated platform where you can also post this topic.

    Here are the troubleshooting steps we can perform:

    1. You need to download and install the remote debugger on your development PC. You can get the remote debugger from the Visual Studio downloads page. Make sure you download the version that matches your Visual Studio installation. For example, if you have Visual Studio 2019, you need to download the remote debugger for Visual Studio 2019. See: Set up your UWP on Xbox development environment - UWP applications | Microsoft Learn

    2.Then, you need to configure your development environment for remote debugging. In Visual Studio, right-click the project in the Solution Explorer, and then select Properties. On the Debugging tab, change Debugger to launch to Remote Machine. In Machine Name, enter the system IP address or hostname of your Xbox Series S

    3. Finally, you need to deploy and run your app on your Xbox Series S. In Visual Studio, select Debug / Start Debugging or press F5. This will build your app, deploy it to your console, and start debugging it. You can use the Visual Studio debugger tools to set breakpoints, inspect variables, and perform other debugging tasks. Try disabling any firewalls or antivirus software that may be blocking the connection between your development machine and the Xbox Series S.

    Additionally, you can post this topic to this link: Microsoft supported products on Q&A | Microsoft Learn

    We will also leave this thread open for other members here in community forum to share the best resolution to your concern.

    Sincerely,
