    Unable to consitently turn on Xbox One X remotely


    I will try this at a family member's house. They don't have an Xbox, but I will obviously bring mine to test on their home network. I will report back with results.

    I was finally able to test everything out - at the moment, I have my Xbox One X remotely turning on and off on a consistent basis.

    For whatever reason, the Xbox did not function correctly when plugged directly into the router. I instead plugged it into a switch that I have plugged into the router. This has seemingly fixed my issues as far as I can tell. The only other thing I have noticed
    is that when I turn it off/suspend it, it doesn’t always turn back on where I left off. I will have to restart whatever game I was playing. I will need to do some more testing with that.

    I tried my Xbox on a separate network, and had the same results - I am able to connect to the Xbox if I manually turn it on. But once it is turned off, neither the SmartGlass or Xbox App are able to turn it back on.

    I did talk with online chat support, and the things they recommended I had already tried, except testing a second Xbox, which I do not posses.

    Things I've done:

    - different Ethernet cables

    - used wifi instead of hardwired

    - factory reset Xbox and started fresh

    - different router

    - different Windows 10 PC's with the Xbox App

    - Xbox on different network

    Thanks for the update on this. Also, does the current router you're using have two different active channels between 5GHz and 2.5GHz? Is your Xbox One X console connected to a wall outlet or power strip?
    My router does broadcast both the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. When I tried wireless I connected it to the 5Ghz band. I have tried both plugging directly to the wall, and to a power strip/surge protector.

    The Xbox App will show the console, but only if I've already manually connected to it when I have the Xbox turned on. If I turn if off via the Xbox App, I am not able to turn in back on, even if I just turned it off. SmartGlass is similar in that if I have
    connected to the Xbox while it was already turned on it will remember it, but it is not able to turn the device on if it is already off.

    It's my understanding that I should be able to turn my Xbox on remotely with either the Xbox App or SmartGlass, but it has never consistently worked since I've owned the device, which is very disappointing. Not sure why the option is even there if it doesn't
    work.

    Gotcha. We tested this again and were indeed able to power on the Xbox One console we tested using Instant-On power mode with the Xbox SmartGlass app and on the same network between mobile phone and console.

    Let's have you try connecting your mobile device to this same network as your Xbox One console, power off the console, and then close the app and re-open it, do you see the ability to power on your console under the "Console" settings page of the Xbox SmartGlass
    app?

    If you're still experiencing trouble with this, can you please send us your Detailed Network Stats (Settings>Network>Network Settings>Detailed Network Statistics) as seen on your Xbox One console? Also, what is your NAT type showing as on that network?
    I tried the SmartGlass app on my phone, while connected to the same network, and I still have the same issue. The app can see the Xbox if I already have it turned on, but once I turn it off with the app, it is unable to turn it back on.

    Detailed Network Statistics are as follows:

    Download Speed - 333.71 Mbps

    Latency - 61 ms

    Upload speed - 21.66 Mbps

    Packet Loss - 0%

    MTU - 1480

    NAT Type: Open

    Thanks for that update as well. By any chance are you able to try this at a friend or family member's place with their network and Xbox One console to see if you're able to power it on remotely? If you're able to, it would indicate that the issue is indeed
    occurring within your network. If that's the case, based on the steps you've already tried, you may want to reach out to your Internet Service Provider for further clarification and possible steps to try regarding this.
