Unable to connect to xbox live

So I'm having trouble connecting to xbox live. My NAT type is strict and I have a high packet loss; do any of those have anything to do with me not being able to connect to xbox live. If so, what can I do to fix this problem?

Anyone else unable to sign into xbox live when playing the 360 games?

When pressing both the Menu and View buttons to bring up the mini guide it just says connect to xbox live.

Packet loss absolutely affects connectivity to Xbox Live.

NAT type (Strict) will affect the network's ability to connect with other players.

For Packet Loss:

support.xbox.com/.../multiplayer-connection-error-solution

Work from the 5th option, "You have high packet loss".

The first step will be to confirm network speeds and connectivity - if the network meets requirements, click yes and continue on. If the network does not meet requirements, click no, and it will take you on a short course of eventually talking to your Internet
Provider.

That's the right guide to work from. It can get technical rather quickly, and may point to a link back to forums where you'll be instructed to find your make/model of network devices and work from there.
