Unable to connect to Xbox Live with an Ethernet cable.

Hi, My name is Jason and I'm currently experiencing an odd issue with my Xbox One that I never had before. (It's almost been 9 years now on Xbox Live, 4 years with my Xbox one)

To sum things up, whenever I connect my Ethernet cable into my Xbox, I will lose connection to Xbox Live. After doing a 'multiplayer connection test'

What makes it really peculiar is that my router disconnects from the Internet completely whenever I plug in the Ethernet cable into my Xbox.

Wireless connection works fine. Ethernet cable also works fine when plugged into my Desktop.

This started Monday Night and has been ongoing ever since.

The list of things I tried were:

-Contacted ISP and did not fix the issue(I don't actually know if it's on their fault for this issue)

-Reset my router(multiple times)

-Change the port the cable was plugged into my router.

-Change Ethernet cables with a different set

-Power cycled my Xbox with and without the Ethernet plugged in.

-Attempted to set my Xbox to a DMZ which did nothing

-Tried but was unable to Port Forward the Xbox

It also should probably be known that:

-I connect my Ethernet through a power line adaptor.

-My internet connection is pretty bad without the Ethernet cable.

Please help me solve this issue since playing online games through wireless connection is basically not an option for me due to poor connection.

Thanks for the reply. I do have an original Xbox one and I can see that the port for the Ethernet cable may be the issue. I'm only slightly concerned with how suddenly it stopped working. It was working fine Monday morning and evening. I'll try to connect
my xbox directly to the router and I'll update you soon.

I have confirmed that the power line adaptor is not at fault it may entirely be the xbox's fault. I will see to it that I get it repaired.

Hi Jason, sorry to hear that. I've also had some problems with the ethernet cable, and the problem was the that the power line adaptor was too old, so i directly connect it to the modem, can you connect the ethernet cable directly from the modem to your
Xbox?

Try to contact support xbox, you can chat with a technician who cwill help you.

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums with this issue. Based on the amount of troubleshooting that you've done so far, including being able to connect the console to Xbox Live via a wifi connection, it sounds as if the Ethernet port on your Xbox One
has been damaged in some way which is causing it not to be recognized. You may also wish to try a direct to modem connection as our Ambassador recommended and perhaps a different power line adapter; however, based on the message you're receiving, it doesn't
seem that the port is recognizing the cable.

As this is the case, you may wish to go ahead and set up a repair for your console to get it back in working order. You may do so from our

Device Support & Repair page online or
request a call back from Xbox Support so that they may do so for you. I do wish to advise you though, that if your console is an Xbox One Original (not an S or an X), it is no longer eligible for repair if out of warranty status.
