Unable to Connect to Xbox Live Party Chat on Series X

Hey everyone,

I've been having trouble connecting to Xbox Live Party Chat on my Xbox Series X. Every time I try to join or start a party, I either get disconnected immediately, or I can't hear anyone else in the chat. My internet connection seems stable for everything else, and multiplayer games work fine, so I'm not sure what's causing this specific issue.

I've already tried restarting my console, checking for system updates, and even resetting my router, but nothing seems to help. Is anyone else experiencing this, or does anyone have suggestions on how to fix it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues using the party chat feature of Xbox. For us to further isolate your issue, please share the exact error message that you received.

Kindly check if your settings are properly configured in your Xbox profile. These communication settings can be adjusted to limit who you want to chat with.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then go to Profile & system.

2. Select Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy > View details & customise.

3. Select Communication & multiplayer, and then review the settings for the following to make sure that they are set to Friends or Everyone:

Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites

You can communicate outside of Xbox with voice & text

You can use video for communications

Note: If you're connected to a Discord voice channel on your Xbox console, your party chat status will say “Discord” and the name of the voice channel that you're in. If you want to join or start an Xbox party chat, disconnect from the Discord voice channel so that you can switch over to game or party chat. I understand that you are experiencing issues connecting to Xbox Live.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Kindly power cycle your console. Turn off your Xbox, unplug it for 10 seconds, and then plug it back in.

Please test your NAT type. To give you a heads up a restrictive NAT type (Moderate or Strict) can cause connectivity issues. To check this one, please go to Settings > General > Network Settings and check your NAT type. If it's not Open, you may need to configure port forwarding on your router.

Here are the list of ports to forward for Xbox Live:

TCP: 3074

UDP: 88, 500, 3074, 3544, 4500

And then adjust privacy settings. Make sure your communication settings allow Party Chat. Navigate to Settings > Account > Privacy & Online Safety > Xbox Privacy > View Details & Customize > Communication & Multiplayer. Set options to "Allow" or "Everybody."

Next is clear MAC address. Kindly go to Settings > General > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address and select "Clear." Restart your console afterward.
