unable to connect to world - minecraft - ios

I get the following message when trying to connect to my friends worlds on IOS.

There is a very dumb checklist microsoft posted with stupid stupid suggestions like "are you connected to the internet?".

I was on wifi, connected to the internet, my friends were the same, i removed them as friends & added them many times, I also restarted the app, the phone, and tons of combinations. I tried creating a new account, same issue, it has the DEFAULT settings
that microsoft live automatically setup.

And I still cant connect to my friends.

anyone have a real suggestion for how to fix this? the only error message is "Unable to connect to world" which is insane. microsoft / minecraft needs to get people with half a brain to fix that so it actually sends WHY it cant connect to world.

I can assist you with some things, but if the issue persists you may need to reach Mojang support.

But first, please answer the following questions :
Are you trying to join to your friend's server. Right?
In order to isolate a bit more the issue, can you try joining to a different server to see if the issue persists?

Are you using the latest iOS and Minecraft update in your device?
If you try using a different wifi network, the issue persists?
You, and your friend has all the privacy settings allowed?
Please double check this with them here:
https://account.xbox.com/Settings

In case the problem is happening only with your friend. Can you try removing them from your friends list. Wait 10 minutes and then add them again?
(Ask them to do the same for you)

And, tell me what else did you tried so far

Good morning, I understand this is definitely frustrating, especially when everything seemed to work just fine not too long ago.

When it comes to your account at least, are you experiencing any trouble logging in to your Microsoft account to play at a very basic level? If so, let me know in your response.

Otherwise, the problem appears to be with the Minecraft app itself. For this, your best action is to report this problem to Mojang directly, and bring the matter to their support's attention. Here is a link to submitting a ticket on Minecraft's support page, and I recommend searching through their support site for any information that might provide some insight into what may be happening here.

Kindly try to use a different network to test it out.

If that still didn't wok kindly try to uninstall and reinstall the game.

Solution found for my case...link below recommended checking the iOS privacy settings. This was my problem. In the Settings app, click Privacy, Local Network, "Minecraft" app selector on.

Not sure how, but one of my kid's iPads had this turned off. Seems unlikely this occurred after logging the kids into xbox accounts in the minecraft app, but have no other explanation.
