Unable to connect to world-Minecraft Cross play PC-Xbox One

I was playing on my pc and was in my friends world when I was over his house and he was on xbox one. I Leave his house and im currently at mine and It Keeps telling me Unable to connect to world. There are no answers to this problems. My question is do
I have to be on the same network for the Cross Play feature to work?

Minecraft friends are not able to connect to my world

Hello support, I recently tried to play minecraft cross platform with a friend. He is on Xbox one, I'm on PC. He used to join my server, but now he couldn't join me. We tried everything, we both updated our minecraft, we made sure versions were the same,
tried to invite through xbox app, made sure xbox settings allowed us to connect to friends, we unfriended eachother and added eachother again, but nothing works. It's not realms, just free local world set to online from the beginning. I made sure the world
was available to see. My friend saw the world, he could try to connect, but after a few minutes trying to connect he got the "unable to connect to server" message. Please help us.

 

Multi Platform

Playstation currently doesn't allow cross platform play with Xbox yet.

As for playing against PC players, you will need a game that supports cross platform play.

Examples for such games are:

• Minecraft (the one without the "Xbox One Edition" in the name, and the Windows 10 Minecraft version. Java Minecraft on PC won't work).
• The Forza games on PC like Forza 7, Forza Horizon 3
• Sea of Thieves
• Gears of War 4
• State of Decay 2

Most other games from other publishers (i.e. not Microsoft Game Studios) are probably unable to play cross platform. So you won't be able to play FIFA or Call of Duty with your PC friends.

This could be a NAT type issue. Cross-play for multiplayer worlds uses the Xbox Live service to connect players when signed in to a Microsoft Account.

If your, or the host’s, NAT type is strict (Type C/D/F) or moderate (Type C), it can prevent a player from acting as a host and/or others connecting to them.
