Unable to Connect to Internet During Startup

Hi,

I recently bought an Xbox one s, however, I haven't been able to enjoy it because it can't complete setup due to the fact that it can't connect to my network. I use Time Warner and one of their modems. I've tried both wired and wireless. When attempting
to connect wired, it can't find the cable, despite being a good cable. When connecting to wireless, it will restart automatically as soon as it attempts to connect.

If it's not already Dropped I would lower the firewall on there just to be safe. I would disable LAN to WAN filter and disable the firewall in the general firewall tab.

Just to double check you are on the xbox 360 correct, if you are other good general troubleshooting would be go to your network on the console and hit configure, Go to additional settings, restore network settings to factory defaults and power off the console
for 30 sec and while its off unplug your asus gateway for 30 sec then power them both back on and test the connection. Who is your ISP??

That is a known issue with Time Warner and the gateway that they use and has been going on for over a year. Usually running it wired works and if you will try performing a hard reset like this and see if it will then recognize the cable.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console. Once it is back up and operational test
the results.

Hey there Mikey! That definitely sounds like an odd one. Let's see what we can do to get things sorted.

To start off, let's try simplifying your network by using an ethernet chord for a wired connection between your console and your router. Once that's done, try booting up your console/signing in a few times and see if it still has trouble connecting
to Xbox Live automatically.

Okay so now there are two problems.

One, I can’t even get to the startup troubleshooter, no matter how many times we’ve held pair and eject plus the power button and followed all the instructions, it boots up like normal and asks us to connect to the internet.

Two, I’m thinking plugging in an OSU2 file might help and might skip the startup troubleshooter for us. But the Xbox site warns us that if we’ve never connected to the internet before, we will need to connect at least once. WHICH MAKES IT USELESS BECAUSE WE CANT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET NOR EVEN REACH THE STARTUP TROUBLESHOOTER!

Please help, I’m so frustrated.
