Unable to connect to a friend I could previously connect to

About 3 weeks my friend and I stopped being able to connect to each other. We have played on xbox live together for atleast 4 years now, and have never had any connection issues between the two of us. at the beginning of January I signed on and went to invite
him to a party, and he couldn't connect, nor can I connect to his parties. Its the same with game lobbies. we changed absolutely nothing about our connections, there are no new routers, no new modems, neither of us switched ISP's, nobody altered router settings,
our internet connections are %100 the same as they were when we can connect, but now we simply can't. we know for a fact that it is xbox live spitefully denying us the ability to play with each other. I find that entirely ridiculous since the point of xbox
live is to, yknow, PLAY WITH EACH OTHER. seems logical, right? so what is the issue here? why did microsoft suddenly decide to mess with us?

Seems to be issues with XBL lately. It is indeed mega annoying.

 

... so that's all? will it ever be fixed? if I'm not able to play with my friends then there's no point in renewing subscription. Don't exactly see Microsofts marketing strategy here

 

I can't text with my friend or chat or private chat with my friend. Xbox live sucks. PS3 online is better. I love xbox when it works. But right now Microsoft sucks!!!!

Maybe one of you has a restricted nat type. This could be due to a number of issues. I suggest clear system cache three times per save device. Turn of your xbox. The cut the power to booth modem and router for 5 minutes. This will do hard rest and stop any
attacks that maybe happing due to some sore loosing player (typically the participation trophy winning generation). Plug every thing back in turn on the xbox and see if that helps. I also recommend your friend to the same.
