Unable to confirm email address for a Gold subscription

Signed my mum who's in her 70's up for a Gold subscription using one of a couple of unused months subscription slips we had from previous console purchases. As she was out and I was using her laptop I used my own gmail address and I can't get it to confirm
the email address from this

Any help appreciated as I have Left 4 Dead in the post for her, we'd been sharing one since release and the idea of both playing online appeals

I can confirm I have checked that email address for an email and the last email I can find to do with xbox live is a confirmation of renewal of gold.

 

My account seems to not recognize my email, so I can't have access to my rewards.

We see that we are unable to deliver emails to the account you have on your Microsoft Account. Can you confirm not receiving an email in a while, and that this email address is accurate?

 

She would need her own email address.You can't have 2 separate accounts linked to one email address

Is there any way we can change the email address to hers, the option doesn't come up when I click the verify address link

When I tried to switch accounts it turned out she already had an (unused) account under her own email address from years ago. Set up a Paypal account for her but gave up and came home last night when I kept just getting the spinning circle when trying to
link the two
