Unable to claim Games With Gold that are Xbox 360 or older

I am a current xbox live gold member, and have been trying to claim the game Saints Row 2, as it is this months game with gold. When I try to claim this game on my xbox one, it says “This purchace channel requires a billing account. Please add a valid payment
instrument...”. This is weird because I have current payment options on my account that are being used to pay for Xbox Live Gold, and have been used to purchace other Xbox One games. The same screen allows me to change my payment options, and then allows me
to add a credit card. However, when I imput valid credit card info and go back to the claim screen, it says the same thing.

Ive tried claiming this game on a computer, hoping that maybe that would work, but the xbox marketplace website shows me the same thing.

I have also had the same issue with last month’s origional xbox game, Destory All Humans, and I got the same error message and tried the same troubleshooting steps on this game as well.

I dont have an xbox 360 to try and claim this game, my account is set up as an adult account, and nothing on my profile shows/tells me why I cannot claim this game. Hopefully someone can point out what i’m missing here.

I have a feeling that the xbox marketplace is just a old, unsupported version of the microsoft store and therefore is very buggy.

I havent called xbox tech supprort, was going to do it as a last restort. If i cant find the answer by tomorrow ill call and tell you guys what they tell me.

Nevermind, it works now, just claimed the game now, must've been a glitch on Microsoft's end I guess..

I got that same issue too, but it seems that the workaround was to do so in a separate browsing session.

I have the same exact issue too, what's wrong with the xbox marketplace website?

Should I contact xbox support? Did anyone try that?

I dont even get to the credit card input part. For some reason, every time i do press that link your describing, i have to sign in. Then the tab keeps refreshing and it starts saying this

” Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later.

The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again.”
