Unable to Chat or join games.

This is the first time something like this has happened to me. I recently started working at the local college as and RA, but something strange happened. When I go to try and join any of my friends parties or games it says I can connect, and the same goes
for them when they try and join my games or parties. I have already had IT take a look at it but they said they have done all they can at this point this is getting really frustrating. I don't know if this will shine more light on the issue but when I am playing
Diablo 3 my friends can see my character lvl but I can't see any of theirs I am just at a loss I hope someone out there can help.

Party Chat Not Working

Hey all,

Just signed up as I got my xbox one today. Loving it so far.

However has anyone figured Party chat yet? I can start a party and join the chat, but no one else in that party can.

additionally if i join a party I'm unable to join the chat and get the message "Party chat cannot be started at this time"

Any Ideas?

Chat & invite problems

Anyone having problems with private chat or game invites. I tried gears of war with a friend but it would always come up 'unable to join' or the chat invites would just time out....any ideas!?

im haveing the same problem with the parties and private chat my nat type is open same with all my friends i just cant connect and vice versa

Some information that may be helpful from you both, is, how are you connected to the Internet?

Ginger, are you saying that your Xbox is connected to the college network?

Also, keep in mind that when attempting to get an open NAT, it can be done different ways. If you're attempting to do this via UPnP, some routers do not handle UPnP very well and cannot be depended upon to open your NAT correctly. You may have to set a static
IP address for your console and then put it in the DMZ for your router. There are instructions on how to do this if you search Google.

If you're on a college network, you may want to try what this website suggests (it's from the older Xbox GUI, but will work)

We did all that and still unable to join each other. We can only join each other in party chat.

Hello,

Thank you for the reply and suggestions. I first set everything to automatic DHCP on my Xbox. The NAT tested as Open but we still could not chat or join.

I then tried port range forwarding and learned that enabling port 53 causes a DNS conflict and my internet fails. With all other ports open as outlined on portforward.com it again tested as an open NAT but still no joining or chatting.

Lastly I tried DMZ; same thing, Xbox reports open NAT but unable to join chat or games.

With all three set ups I get open NAT and can join random games.

Maybe this router is no worth the trouble?
