Unable to Change Shipping Address?!

I was able to order a new Xbox last night. When checking out, it stated expedited shipping. After getting my order confirmation, the estimated ship date was 12/23. I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow, for a little over a week and thought it would be best to
ship my console there since it would have shipped in 2-3 days. Had to contact support over the phone and chat (while waiting over 3 hrs) to be told that they can't change the shipping address. Their recommendation is to contact back when I get a tracking number.

A couple of things that just irk me:

1) this isn't a pre-order since the console launched on the same day I purchased it

2) they are going to create a label for the wrong address then have me contact them to have it ship to the right place? Sounds like its going to be a disaster

If the item isn't even planning to be shipped right now, which its not looking likely,
why not put a realistic time frame during the checkout process?
Aside from that, how is it that Microsoft doesn't let you change a shipping address? Its like basic functionality for companies that offer online shopping. I'm not even mad I have to wait for this thing, its the fact that I can't change the shipping address!
