Unable to change Gamertag after necessary change...

Hello, I recently had an issue where I couldn't log into xbox live and was shown an error message concerning my profile. I called tech support and was informed that this was due to a forced gamertag change. While I understand now, why the change was made,
I don't understand why I can't pick my own replacement. In years past, I have been able to change my tag if it was prompted that it needed to be changed. I don't understand why I would have to pay $10 to change a screen name. Can someone help me out with this...I
know it's pretty simple and a low concern case but this is a little ridiculous in my opinion.

I created my account 7 years ago online, but didn't have an Xbox 360 at the time, and wasn't aware that you could change your gamertag for free for the first time. I just now learned that there is an expiration date for the first free gamertag change, and
now I have to pay to change it. I contacted customer support, and was told to make a post here to see if a moderator could do anything for me.

I would like to change my gamertag, but I am not able to pay, because I don't have a creditcard. Unfortunately, this is the only available payment method, but not one that is common where I am from.

Does anyone have an idea of what I can do to fix this (except getting a creditcard)?

 

You can pick your own replacement you gotta pay the 10bucks

Its to remind you every time to think seriously about your name

FYI too many forced name changes will lead to a perm ban of an account

 

And its only like 3-4 changes I think I know its not many

Every time a complaint is filed it takes multiple teams to review it including name changes

This takes time away from doing other things is involved with enforcement that the pet team is a very small group

The less they are tied on things the more the rules are enforced more quickly

People were previously just reusing the same name with the same of fence this way they are forced to consider carefully of their choices as each name costs money and hopefully not lead to further enforcement

 

Basically you will have to pay or live with the name

Consider it lucky as with other services would include suspensions or in the case of psn outright perm bans of the said account

The enforcement team are the ones who are in charge of forced name changes, you can contact them here -forums.xbox.com/.../41.aspx

However, the policy was updated last year and you would have agreed to the policy that you will be given a randomly generated tag and you will have to pay to change your tag to something else.
