Unable to change billing options on child account

I have an XBOX 360 with four accounts setup on it. I have enabled the Family settings, and associated my two children's accounts with mine. Recently one of my children received a XBOX Live gift card for $15.00. When we redeemed the code, we did it under
his account. His account shows that he has a balance available, but because it is child's account, controlled under the Family settings, I cannot change the billing options under his account. The available credit does not show under my account either. As
a result of this, if my son tries to make a purchase, it is getting billed to my credit card, rather than deducting from his available balance.

How can I move the redeemed gift card to my account, so that it can be selected as a payment option?

How can I transfer GamerTag and Friends List from Parent Account to Child Account?

I did not realize that MS would allow the creation of a Child Account. Son is unable to access his 360 Live Account due to invalid email address. I was going to set him up with a fresh account. He spent the morning getting his new GamerTag and Friends List
updated and I set him up with a Live 2 week trial and I am about to enter billing info for continuous billing. I came across Child Account option and I have linked his Child Account to my MS account. How can I transfer GamerTag and Friends List from Parent
Account to Child Account?

How to turn an Xbox 360 offline profile into a gamertag FOR CHILD ACCOUNT

How do you turn an xbox 360 offline CHILD profile into a gamertag? We are unable to change the profile from child to adult so need to transfer it as is. The 'join xbox live' option is not working.

You cannot move already redeemed currency to another xbox profile. However if you want to use the currency on his account you need to make some changes.

Sign into the adult account associated with the child account on Xbox.com. Go to "Security, family, and forums". Then go to "Online safety for Xbox One" (I know you stated 360, however the option for enabling purchasing is under the Xbox One section.) It
will ask you to verify your identity. Go ahead and send yourself a verification code by whatever means it asks you. Once your in, select his profile (it will give you your profile and his profile to choose from). Allow him to make purchases through his account.
Save the changes. (and use that currency)

If you have no idea what the parent account to your son's account is, call support. They will be able to help you out with figuring out what it is.

Totally agree, HappyBunny11746 - the Billing info is so hidden by default that it is plainly obvious that Microsoft are ensuring they get subscription payments in a very sneaky way. I have just been emailed by my child, saying that he has received an INVOICE from
Microsoft and has not bought anything. His account is set up as a CHILD account and yet they send invoices to his personal email! It's so obviously a tactic to hide this information from the bill payer.

So I find the only way to change the email address for these invoices, is to get his account password, log in as him and change the default payment options. YES! There are default payment options on a CHILD account.

Then I'm looking at why he got billed - it was for the auto-renewal of XBox live. I can see in my account that it will auto-renew the subscription every month, using MY Paypal account... but I cannot turn it off! I get this message:

So to change subscription and billing I have to log into my CHILD'S account? Incredible..

Hi Fellwo gamer,

Once and adult account is made, there is no way of changing it to a child account. You can change the date of birth on Microsoft. On Xbox, you are unable to change it. So it will register always as adult account. You would need to

make another account set as a child account.

Lol that's parental controls

If you want an easier interface you use the console

Subscription cancellation can be found by loging into the said account and account settings then subscription status

Hi Defended,

If the account is an adult account, it is unable to be set as a child account. This is why it is not working correctly. You would need to create a totally new account set as child. Reason for this is once a birthdate is put on Xbox.com, it cant be changed
at all. You can change the one on Microsoft but it doesn't change the Xbox date.
