    Unable to Change Audio output


    Hi Folks,

    I have had my Series X for a few weeks now and really happy with it,

    I purchased the new Wired Official Series X Headset from Microsoft on Very and was happy to receive a good headset to use for multiplayer gaming,

    I have a 4k HDR gaming monitor with built in speakers connected to the X with an HDMI cable,

    When i plug the headset in i can hear a noise and the controller settings detect it is plugged in

    I have attempted multiple times to turn off the Speaker Audio in settings to allow the Headset audio to be the stereo uncompressed headset connected to the controller.

    Every time i try this i am met with the following error code and the following message:

    "Check your audio receiver

    There was a problem using this setting. Make sure your audio receiver supports it. Also make sure you choose at lest one audio setting.

    Both cannot be off. (0x80bd0009)

    Both aren't off the headset is set to Stereo Uncompressed and i'm trying to use that as the main source of audio.

    I get no sound from the device what so ever and I'm unable to play any online multiplayer games currently.

    Please help me fix this

    Also i have tried to request a call from support asking the same question, i get to the part to enter in my mobile number and then get the following message

    Something went wrong at our end. We’re working on it.

    Try Again

    Tried mobile and a landline still the same !

    Can't find option for a live chat that isnt a virtual agent and useless,

    This really is poor support, i have even posted to them on twitter support and on reddit where other users are having the same issue ?

    You may find that you might have to manually select the audio output on your TV. ie, change the setting from TV speaker to external speaker, therefore changing the audio output to the red & white audio output sockets on the back or side of the TV.

    go into the settings in companion app and change output audio, mine usually sets the mic as the audio output for some reason.

    Hi GNXN,

    It could be possible, but would you mind explaining what audio output settings you change and what did you change it to? Maybe the audio settings you change is optimizing audio output to your TV only.

    Also check the Display and Sound settings and then go to audio output. Look over those settings and make sure it's default at stereo uncompressed.
