Unable to cancel a download and install

I'm sorry to hear if none of the solution works. Can you also try to Run the system file checker to check if there are corrupted system files that are just looping around causing this kind of issue to exist. See Using System File Checker in Windows - Microsoft Support.

Tried resetting the app. I reset the Xbox App, Xbox Console Companion, Xbox Game Bar. But it didn't resolve the issue.

I also downloaded the Xbox Insider Hub, and it seems to have confirmed that I am not a part of the Insider Program.

Thanks for helping look into this. As far as I know, I am not a part of PC Insider.

The version of Xbox App is 2303.1001.7.0, Gaming Services is 11.76.5001.0 & Game Bar is 5.823.3261.0

I got all the details from my Xbox App - screenshot below.





I also checked Crusader Kings 3 in the Apps list and couldn't find it. Screenshot below. I am ok with Halo Wars 2 where it is now.





I usually check and run Windows Update every other day - I don't see any new updates pending.





On Microsoft Store, I didn't see any updates for the Xbox App or Gaming Services. There was one for Xbox Game Bar Plugin, which I installed, but it didn't do much.









I did reinstall the Xbox App yesterday, but that didn't help as well. Let me retry it and see if it works.

We are aware of how frustrating it may be to run into such a situation while attempting to uninstall a game software that has already been downloaded successfully despite your attempts to terminate it. I am here to help and let us work on this together. Allow me to ask few questions to help us further isolate the issue.

Are you part of Xbox Insider or PC Insider?

What is the version of the Xbox app, Xbox Game Bar, and game services?

Do you mind checking if the Crusader Kings III game app is now available on the list of installed games on settings?

If you wish to Uninstall the Halo Wars 2 game app, see Uninstall or remove apps and programs in Windows - Microsoft Support for the steps on how to remove the program.

When you have tried to download the app and may still be in the middle of the installation process, it is possible that there may be hidden files associated with the CK3 game software that cannot be removed.

I recommend trying the following steps below to troubleshoot the issue.

Make sure Windows is up to date.

1. Press the Start button on the taskbar, type settings, and then select Settings.
   
2. On Windows 10, select Update & Security. On Windows 11, select Windows Update.
   
3. On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates to see if any updates are available for your device.
   
4. Once the updates have downloaded, select Install now to start the installation.
   
5. Following installation, we recommend that you restart your device so that the latest updates can take effect.
   

Ensure that both the Xbox and Gaming Services apps are up to date.

1. Press the Start button on the taskbar, type store, and open the Microsoft Store app.
   
2. Select Library.
   
3. Under Updates & downloads, check if there are any updates available for the Xbox app or Gaming Services app. If an update is available, select Update.
   

Repair or reset the Xbox App.

Open Settings > Click on Apps > installed apps > Inside the Installed apps menu, use the search function at the top to search for ‘xbox‘. > Next, click on the action icon and click on Advanced Options menu. > Scroll down to the Reset tab in the Xbox app's Advanced Options menu, then hit the Repair button. Restart your computer after the Microsoft Store repair process is finished to determine if the problem has been resolved.

Repeat the steps above if the issue persists, but this time choose the reset button.
