    Hi

    I am unable to add money to my child's Microsoft account for an Xbox game. I was able to do it a few weeks ago, and nothing has changed since then. The card is working fine.

    The error message I am getting is

    Check your sender name
    It contains a prohibited word.

    I have tried to add the money through different devices and on different times. but it doesn't make a difference.

    Hi Jeremy,

    I'm sorry to hear this is happening when trying to add money to your child's account. By any chance have you attempted to update the billing info in her Microsoft account? If not, give it a try.

    Here's how:

    1. Go to
      account.microsoft.com       and sign in to the Microsoft account you want to update.
    2. Select Edit profile, and then make the changes needed to update the billing information.

    Unable to verify Adult due to US web form for card payment

    In all likelihood the region for your child's Microsoft Account is set to the US instead of UK.

    It's quite possible for the region for the Microsoft Account and Xbox LIVE account to be mismatched.

    To check the region for your child's Microsoft Account, log in to
    http://accounts.live.com     using your child's Microsoft Account email address. If you change the region for your child's Microsoft Account, you should have no further issues.

    If you're unable to change this, then you may need to contact support by phone to get it fixed.

    if your child is trying to by a game or dlc there is an option to gift it to them so you could save the hassle of adding money to there acount

    Hello Johnny_J I'm experiencing the same exact problem and was wondering if you ever got it resolved. Support has been no help and just basically told me to try another payment method but no matter what I get the same kind of error you've reported.
