Unable to access Privacy & Online Safety

So I got my Xbox One for my 18th birthday two days ago (30th June), and soon after setting up proceeded to download the free Halo: Spartan **** game with no worries whatsoever. However, when I logged on today and tried to download the new Guacamelee game
for free, I'm told that my current setting do not allow me to purchase content, which is strange cause I set it to "unrestricted" when setting up my xbox. Following it's guidelines, I open setting and attempt to open "Privacy & Online Safety", and after what
ranges from a 5second wait to a 10 second wait, I'm greeted by two side-by-side messages, both saying that my "privacy settings are in effect" in one message, and that my "content restrictions are in effect" in the other. Both then proceed to say ", but cannot
be changed until we connect to the service.

The strange part is that if I press the d-pad up and down, I can hear the sound going through a menu (that isnt on screen), and if I press 'A' I can actually access it, but none of the three invisible buttons I've found take me to my purchase restrictions.
I have tried accessing this menu on my phone an computer, and both, after buffering for quite a while, tell me that I've seemed to have found a "glitch in the system". After performing a connection test, it tells me that everything is good and connected.

Any my and all help on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

profile privileges

Hi,

My son unable play awesomenauts live and gets the error message "failed to access online features due to restrictions on gamer's profile privileges"

I changed the settings under privacy to adult with no success.

I also tried changing the settings under https://account.xbox.com/Privacy & online safety and changed all my son's permissions to allowed, still didn't fix it.

If an adult (Parental) account is associated with your safety and privacy settings then you are unable to change those settings.

I would also appreciate an answer to this thread. Today I downloaded the Twitch app & attempted to broadcast some gameplay for my Godson's entertainment, only to be greeted by an error message saying I'm unable to broadcast due to restrictions. I went into
my privacy & online settings to enable broadcasts & I can't view the settings, I can only see the same two messages as in the comment above! What's going on? Please can we get a resolution here?!

Have you promoted your Xbox profile from a child account into an adult account on Xbox.com yet? When a child account is created, that account isn't able to access the privacy and online safety settings without the credentials from the parent account. Once
you turn 18, you can go to the privacy and online safety settings on xbox.com and there should be an option for your to promote your account into an adult.

Keep in mind that the Xbox website has been making some changes so this might not be 100% accurate, best bet is to call in to Xbox Customer Support at 1-800-4MY-XBOX (1-800-469-9269). Feel free to pm me.

 

Hi there I'm having the exact same problem, but I do have some extra information that might help. I was able to create a new account and it didn't have any problems changing the settings or purchasing content, and because of Xbox One's sharing system I could
play the games on my old acount. It's not a permanate fix, but you can at least get your content. it does make it look like it's a profile related glitch not console related.

 

Im haveing the same problem. Ive searched around the internet and not found anything and that was about 3 hours. The only thing i cant find out is how to check if my account has the adult setting enabled. This is after the new xbox exsperience console update.

 

I was having same issue, deleted profile and reinstalled profile, have not had an issue since.
