Unable to access messages on xbox.com and Xbox app

Starting around December 19, I'm unable to access messages on xbox.com and Xbox app on Windows 10/Windows 10 Mobile (both the main app and the beta app). If I access it on xbox.com (click on my avatar then click messages, which takes me to
https://account.xbox.com/en-US/Messages), the website shows an error. If I access it on the Xbox app, the app simply crashed. I have tried this on multiple PCs, browsers and phones. I can
only access messages on my consoles (Xbox One and 360).

When I originally contacted Xbox support a week ago, I was told that this is a server side issue and they were working on it. It has been 9 days and the issue is still preventing me from accessing messages.

The error I received on xbox.com is:

Uh oh... that shouldn't have happened. It appears you've found a glitch in the system. Please try again later.

XBOX app crash when clicking on the messages option.

This worked for me and hopefully it does for you, unfortunately chat support was unable to assist.

Any how - if you are unable to access your messages on your Xbox App or your messages from Xbox.com there is currently a system message that is on your account that can be viewed on your smart device or xbox platform. I was unable to delete it while viewing
it on the Xbox One, to work around this I went on smart glass through my tablet where I was able to delete the system message from my account. After I did this I signed out of the Xbox App on my PC and signed back in and BOOM, back to normal.

I did not have to sign out of xbox.com, i simply clicked the link for messages and it was working as well.

I'm having the same issues, had effectively stopped me from being able to use destiny lfg.com.

Had been going on for a few days now.

 

Yep. The exact issue made using Destiny LFG sites pain in the a** for me. I can use the Xbox app to send messages but there's no way I can read them or reply to them.

 

Check the bottom of your message list on your XBox One for a green colored message from Xbox. This is what caused the glitch for me. It took me over 1/2 hour to figure out and how to delete it using SmartGlass on my phone. Now I can access my XBox.com messages
and My Win10 XBox app does not crash.

 

I'll give it a try when I get home, but I read it on Reddit that one needs SmartGlass to delete it. I upgraded my phone to Windows 10 and no longer have SmartGlass. The Xbox app on Windows 10 crashes the second I go to Messages.
