Unable to 120Hz at 1440p Even Though Monitor Supports 144Hz at 1440p

Has anyone else been running into the incredibly frustrating issue where Xbox One X refuses to let your settings change to 1440p at 120Hz? My monitor is a very nice new AOC AGON
AG322QC4. If you look this monitor up you'll clearly see that it supports 1440p at 144Hz. It operates at 145Hz at 1440p on my gaming PC, but won't on my Xbox just because the settings on Xbox won't allow.

Both HDMI ports are 2.0 and Xbox One X is supposed to support this as well. I just upgraded to Xbox One X for this specific reason and it's incredibly frustrating that after
the console has been out for 2 years these types of issues have not been addressed and corrected.

I'm also using a 4k rated cable, so that is not the issue.

It mentions, among other things, that if HDR is enabled, then the monitor reduces the framerate to a maximum of 75Hz over HDMI. See the text here:

As for the HDR, the AGON AG322QC4 can’t display HDR over Display port as the ports are version 1.2 instead of the newer version 1.4 which does support the HDR standard. Fortunately, the monitor does have HDMI 2.0 which does support HDR. We wish that
this was made more clear off the bat as it would resolve any potential headaches when it comes to choosing the correct port and cable to get this feature to work. Also when using HDMI 2.0, the max supported refresh rate gets knocked down to 75Hz instead of
the 144Hz the monitor is capable of. This is unfortunate as you can’t have both 144Hz and HDR on a single cable. Luckily as the monitor has plenty of ports, you can easily switch between Displayport and HDMI to best suit your needs, though this is more work
than it needs to be. If the monitor had Displayport 1.4 as standard, this wouldn’t be an issue. We also noted that you can’t change game modes or eco modes in HDR, so you are stuck with the default HDR profile configuration.

Have you tried disabling HDR? Try that and see if it allows 1440px120Hz.

It sounds like any monitor that uses non standard Vesa frequencies (144hz as opposed to 120hz) will not be able to effectively run at 120hz with 1440p on xbox one x.

Its important to note in your manual if it actually supports 120hz

Being 144hz doesnt mean it supports 120hz at 1440p

It could support 1440p qt odd ranges or 144 or 60hz

This isn't accurate as my Xbox will support 120Hz at 1080p, but not 1440p which it should according to my monitors specs.
