UK Set top box ON/OFF + channel selection.

After some playing around with locale settings i finally got my UK Freeview digital stream box to switch on and off with the "XBOX ON/OFF" commands.

It appears when set to US locale that the XBOX ONE is capable with the current firmware/OS to talk to PVR/DVR and set top boxes from the uk. Simply go to the manual IR codes setting and type in your box. You will have to spoof a US Zip code ( 902010 or somthing
    ).

I have a Digitalstream DVR box, i was able to now turn on/off the box, pause and restart live tv ( if your DVR has timeshift ) and even select channels. ( Well kinda! ) If you say "Xbox channel NBC" for example it sent me to uk Channel 004. So the facility
is there, we just need the freeview listings for each uk region within Oneguide that are pulled from that TV guide service and we are away. These settings work only within US locale. When changing back to uk the on/off toggle still works, but the other stuff
is then disabled. It seems all the OS does is disable the channel selection ( and play / pause etc ) but just remove the settings from the menus!

    Have fun!

    :)

  2. No option to select a device for satalite/cable box

    Hello,

I've set up my Xbox One and my tv plays through the xbox but I cannot control the set top box using the xbox. I am in the UK and have a Virgin Tivo box for my tv provider.

Is it just that my set top box is not supported, because I thought I would have been able to try and manually add it, like I did with my TV?

I only really want to be able to turn off my set top box by turning off the Xbox, but would ideally also like to be able to access and change the channels using the xbox as well..

    Please can anyone help??

    Thanks

    Tom

    Changing Channels?

Sounds like something is going wrong with the Xbox remote control of your cable/satellite set top box. The Xbox controls it by sending IR commands from your Kinect sensor... so some things to try would include:

Make sure your Kinect is plugged in and not blocked from your set top box. They don't need to be aimed directly at each other - light can bounce around the room, just like with your remote control - but if one is blocked off the infrared commands might
    not be getting through.

Check your set top box configuration in Live TV settings. If you used automatic detection, try entering the exact make and model of your cable box manually. (If this works to fix your problem, please post your model number so we can improve automatic detection
    for others in the future.)

Sagemcom DTIW77 HD not recognized for IR-controll

    Thanks for the tip!

    Unfortunately it did not help.

What I did was this (for each code):

    • Have set-top box set to channel 1
    • Enter code -> done.
    • Go back out to start screen.
    • Press X to bring up OneGuide.
    • Select channel 2 and press A.
The xbox switches to TV but does not change the set-top box channel.

    Xbox one guide

On OneGuide you must select select the active show within the channel for it to work, clicking on the actual channel does nothing.

When saying a channel command, for example 'Xbox Watch HBO', do you get the prompt in the top right which shows said command where the xbox is trying to send the command?

You could also try using the up/down D-Pad buttons on the contoller (this sends a signal to the set-top box for channel up/down). If that doesn't work then the set-top is likely not recieving these commands correctly.

    XBOX Digital TV Tuner..

Make sure you have the set top box connected via HDMI. It should go HDMI from the set top box into the Xbox, then HDMI out to the TV. Make sure you select the correct provider, channel plan, and area (if applicable). Also, make sure the set top box is
powered on. Some devices may not be supported as well, like a DTA (Digital Tuning Adaptor) which is a very small version of a cable box over say, a DVR or HD Digital set top box. Let me know if that helps or not. I may be able to come up with something
else if I know a little more about your set up.

Kinect not controlling volume or power on Insignia Receiver

    I used C2302.

Also I had an issue with my Entone Amulet 400 set top box where when I would change channels via the Xbox One the Entone would receive too many commands and go to the wrong channel. For example if it was trying to go to channel 124, the Entone was receiving
111222444 instead. The fix is to go into the settings menu on the Entone Set Top Box and change the URC delay from zero to 3. When I went into the settings screen it asked for a password - the default password is just the number zero - at least on mine it
was. Now everything works fine between Kinect and this Set Top Box

    Sony STR-DG510 to xbox one.

I have the same receiver and I used the optical out of the Xbox One to the STR-DG510 and it works. I have a Windows Media Center PC connected to the HDMI in on the XBOX One. To get 5.1 from the WMC PC or your cable/ Satellite set top box use the following::

From Home, say “Xbox, go to Settings” or select the Settings tile from My games & apps.

    Select TV & OneGuide.

    Select Troubleshooting.

Select the Surround Sound (BETA) option.

It worked for me although the Xbox One has trouble changing channels on WMC PC as it can't change the channel to say "9.1" it tries but just puts in 9 and the channel change fails. A cable or Sat box should work fine.
