UK Pegi Ratings Vs USA ERSB ratings and keeping our UK children safe online - ensuring they...

Having had a long "live chat" with XBox support (seemingly USA based) it appears the UK has a "snag" with the XBox that may need the "development" people to look into. I must say though that I am a little incredulous that for all the years the XBox must
have been in the UK that no parent has ever raised this (or had anything "done" about it).

The UK Pegi Rating system is such:

My initial problem started when I asked the question "My children are aged 7 and 10 is there a way to search for games available to them for free (under the XBox Ultimate Game Pass membership we have) which are multiplayer and age appropriate" ie in the
UK this would be Pegi 7 as our next age rating is Pegi 12 so Pegi 7 is for games which have been decided as suitable for children age from 0 to 7 (we also have a rating Pegi 3 for children up to age 3) and the advisor linked me to here:

This link was great in that on the left hand side it allows me to filter in such a way for eg: CHARTS "Top Free"/DEPARTMENTS "Games"/AVAILABLE ON "XBox"/CATAGORY "All Catagories"/CAPABILITIES "Shared/Split Screen"/NUMBER OF PLAYERS "Local Multiplayer"/CUSTOMER
RATING "1 star and up". HOWEVER there was no option to then filter under PEGI ratings (the USA version of this link appears to allow a filter under ESRB ratings)

At least this will allow my children to find the names of the multi-player games they can get for free on their Ultimate Pass on their XBox BUT not actually protect them from downloading none-age appropriate ones.

I spent a *lot* of time setting the XBox Up prior to them getting it for Christmas speaking to several live chat agents to help me. I set up a family group and input my children's ages and was assured this would stop them accessing in-appropriate age based
games via their XBox. However, I have now found this is not the case and appears to be due to the discrepancy between how different countries allocate the age rating system.

For eg Fortnite is the top of the list on the search. In the UK this is a Pegi 12 ie only children aged 12 and over can play this game. However, in the USA this is rated as suitable for children aged 8 and above. Consequently when Fortnite is accessed
via the Microsoft store on their XBox it lists it as a PEGI 12 yet offers them the option to "get" ie it would download on their XBox - presumably as the system sees it as being suitable for children 8 and above though there is still some illogic in that as
my younger child is listed as his age which is 7 and yet it will offer to let him have Fortnite under his gamertag/username on the XBox.

1) There needs to be a PEGI filter on the selection site for UK

2) The whole rating system between UK and USA needs some kind of re-examination to protect our UK children from things deemed not appropriate for them.

This is also for the "Development People" - when we have a "Live Chat" wih the "Contact Us Xbox Support people" there nees to be a "save chat" option either for it to be saved as we are going along OR emailed to us at the end of the chat session"
