    You could try a different payment method or get a gift card to purchase items on the store

    The error message that you see usually happens to add the card, not to purchase items, and it's related because you are trying to use your card on a different region than the one it was issued for

    An example of this is if I have a UK card, I can only use it on the UK store, I can't add it on the USA site, or if my device is set to USA, I will get that the card information is not correct

    just make sure the card is for the region your friend or family member is in, UK card will not work on a USA card etc.

    gold cards like MS point cards are region locked and only work in the region they came in. a usa card will not work on a uk account.
