UK Game Prices? What is this?

If you think you got it bad OP, come down to New Zealand and buy a game

 

Maf quick question what's the average pay in New Zeland cause I really cant work this out

 

Xbox One games range between NZ$109-119. When they are on sale they are about $99. Some places have the nerve to charge $129.

 

Indeed console and game prices are going up in some countries,......... This is NOT new information.

Just the side effect of sales and inflation.......

Other purchase options exist...... I suggest looking for deals on-line or localy.

I usually buy online on sale and get games $20 or so cheaper than store retail, plus it gets delivered to my front door so there's no driving over to the next town.

 

Europe isn't the only place where prices are going up. In the US games and such are still expensive, not as expensive as in the EU, but due to inflation; prices every where are going to go up as game quality increases.

 

I wanted to bump this as today I went to Game to Preorder 3 Games:

Yes The Price Tag's were insane luckily the GAME Rewards Program Saved me some cash not alot but some. Also just something I want to rant about in General I feel like in England even with the tax that Companies are just using the US Price and Replacing the
Dollar Sign with a Pound Sign.

 

Here in the ANZ region we have been ripped off for years, this is why I have so many NTSC consoles. Region free consoles are the answer to us.

 

Titanfall was 46.99 euro (63 dollars) on sales recently. I went to the US marketplace and it was priced at $39.00 at regular price. It is a total slap in the face to gamers here.

 

I bought it on disc for $50, almost half the retail price in Australia. New Zealand has it even worse tbh, the ANZ region has a massive gaming community so someones's raking in the $

 

And all this can simply be answered by

It's the same reason Games for Windows Got axed by Steam

STEAM: Hey you want that new game which came out last week or Preorder DR3

Steam: $5 and $30

Windows Game thingie: $59.99 and $59.99

Price had nothing to with Games For Windows LIVE and Steam. Publishers have been removing GFWL functionality and replacing it with Steam's own multiplayer because of Microsoft's shutting down of GFWL. Also, unless a GFWL or GFW was published specificity
by Microsoft, MS never made any money from their sales. MS has never had any involvement in Steam pricing.

 

GAME is cheap where I live in Wales games are priced at £39.99-£44.99 for new releases like Wolfeinstien and £29.99-£34.99 for budget titles like Sniper Elite 3 GAME near me have never charged £50 for a standard 360 game like some places in England. it
is a lot cheaper to buy discs then digital copies fron games on demand for instance up until last month they wanted £54.99 for Assassin Creed 4 on the xbox 360 that was £5 more then GAME where charging for the xbox one version

 

That's why retail stores still exist for console games. Digital distribution (DD) hasn't been done properly yet. People like to think PC games disappeared from retail stores because PC gaming was becoming a niche, rare thing, and there was no demand.

On the contrary. The demand is huge and PC gaming is thriving. But there is no demand for retail from consumers because DD is being done close to properly. Publishers eventually accepted the change and altered their approach to the market. But PC clients
like Steam and Origin, and alternatives like gog still need improvement...

... and if they still need improvement, it only highlights how far behind DD on consoles is, and how slowly it's moving. Publishers are loathe to give up the arbitrarily decided price-points of $60 and the like, regardless of the delivery system, and consumers
of console digital aren't voting with their wallets and making a distinction between physical and digital worth.

Things can only get better. But console DD consumers should look to clients like Steam for a glimpse of console DD's brighter future. While Steam users can look forward to more mishaps, errors, and poor decisions as PC DD forges the path. lol

As to prices by region. People should compare things like minimum wage, with direct conversions across currencies. The feeling of being robbed should wane somewhat, I think. =)
