UK Game Prices? What is this?

This may or may not be considered a Rant.



First Let's do some Maths!

(When Xbox 360 was "Current Gen")

UK Gamers would pay for a standard Edition Game £34.99 or £39.99

£34.99 = 58.60 US Dollar This was the max for most retailers to charge for a Standard Copy of the Game.

So let put that in Perspective 3 Games = £105 More or Less = $180

Now Xbox One

Game prices are fluctuating I have seen them go upto £64.99 at GAME

£64.99 = $108

OK So let's not bother in the past let's talk about the future!

So I will hand Microsoft Props for the Buy 2 Get one free promo.

BUT Let's look at the prices 15:19 (GMT) 28/05/2014

Watch Dogs - £46.99

£46.99 = $78.99

CoD Ghosts - £46.99

$78.99

Battlefield 4 - £41.65

$70

Titanfall - £42.99

$70



OK So The Prices have yes gone down. But This will most likely only be for a while. I did see Dead Rising 3 for £29.99 so Props I guess.

BUT Let's put this in Perspective.

I Want to buy a XB1

I Want to buy the top games out.

Let's say Titanfall CoD Ghosts and Watch Dogs and BF4

Then Chuck in the Year Live Membership which is £40

Without Kinect - £563.98 = $944.95

With Kinect - £603.98 = 1011.97

Now let's do this US.

WatchDogs - $60 = £34.99

CoD Ghosts $49.99 = £28

Titanfall - $59.99 = £34.99

BF4 - $59.99

I Want to buy a XB1

I Want to buy the top games out.

Let's say Titanfall CoD Ghosts and Watch Dogs and BF4

Then Chuck in the Year Live Membership which is $60

Without Kinect: $689.99

With Kinect: $739.99

Let's say you buy your Xbox One today. That money's gonna add up for the consoles generation eh?

UK here too. Never paid full retail price for a game myself, only tend to pick up a game after it`s been out a few months and the price has dropped.

Have never had a game on pre-order or bought one on day of release either.

In all seriousness, this is a major issue for you guys. If I lived in the UK, I would only buy physical discs as y'all get great discounts.

 

Sadly all the prices I have shown are physical New Copies from GAME and GAMESTOP I have seen Virtual Copies such as WatchDogs still at £59.99. And Discounts only really happen round Christmas time

 

It's weird, when I go up "north" games are cheaper in pounds than euro. I go once every other month so I always check out the prices in Game or Gamestop when I see one.

 

JDXT- to say that deals only happen around Christmas means you either A. Dont pay attention or B. Dont know what a deal is. Have a look at this thread

I mean game deals and Good Game deals! Yeah I don't really pay attention to sales but I goto my Local Gamestore at least once a week

 

Stop shopping at GAME.

Supermarkets are selling ONE games for cheaper.

Also remember that your UK price includes all taxes up front.

American and Canadian prices are advertised before Federal and State or Provincial Sales Taxes are applied.

So we're not necessarily getting as bad a deal as you think.

Unless you're shopping from GAME or the XBox LIVE Marketplace.

 

^^ Az is correct. We, in the States, see a $59.99 price tag, but the actual cost of the game turns out to be around $65 depending on the state you live. Az, the federal government doesn't place taxes on purchases such as video games, that is entirely
a state tax, fyi. In Ohio, the last I remember the state sales tax is 6.5%.

 

OK So I applied the Ohio Tax Rate in the W/ Kinect and it's 783.34 That's still pretty good. That's £468 daym. Maybe next time I go to the US I pick up like 5 Games

you look look out between digital and physical and buy where the deals are. some times you will get a good digital sale and other time you will get a better deal on the disk.
