Ugh ... two microsoft accounts with the one associated with xbox associated with an e-mail...

This does suggest Microsoft account is associated with the wrong email. What I would do is on the Xbox with the Gamertag you believe is the right one is check the E-mail address associated with it. A Gamertag is associated with a Microsoft Account but
the E-mail address that is associated with a Microsoft Account\E-mail address can change. Hope that helps and makes sense.

Just so I am understanding correctly.

You have 2 Microsoft (MS) accounts. Emails

One has an Xbox profile on it. '

You are wanting to use the email from Account A on Account B that has the Xbox profile on it.

You have access to both accounts (email and password).

If Account A is a MS server (Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com, MSN.com) email this WILL NOT work.

First you have to make sure that you have access to the security proof (where they send verification codes to, to verify ownership of accounts) is up to date on Account B. If you have the email and password for Account B you can sign into this account at
account.microsoft.com/security then click on the update my info link under the security contact info. At this point it will probably pop up a box trying to verify ownership by sending either an email or text message depending on what you have set as your security
proof for that account with a code to enter in. If it is the email that you do not have access to there should be an option that you do not have access to any of these when you click on that option it will allow you to put in a request to update the security
info for that account KEEP IN MIND THAT ONCE YOU PUT THE REQUEST IN THERE WILL BE A 30 DAY WAITING PERIOD BEFORE THE CHANGE TAKES AFFECT AND THE ONLY WAY TO CANCEL THIS REQUEST WOULD BE TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE OLD SECURITY PROOF.

Once that change takes affect and you are able to get into that account AND the email for Account A is NOT a MS server email you can do the following to get the email address from Account A onto Account B

1. Sign into Account A at account.live.com/addassocid once ownership of the account is done this will bring up a page with two options to add an email to your account Create a new outlook email or add an existing (non MS) email to the account. Basically
what you are going to do is to create a new outlook email does not matter what you name it this is just so that you can get your current email disassociated with this account so you can add it to the new old account. Once the new email is created and added
to Account A you would want to make this new email the primary email for Account A then you should have to option to remove the other email from this account. AGAIN KEEP IN MIND DO NOT REMOVE THE EMAIL FROM THE ACCOUNT IF IT IS A MS SERVER EMAIL IF YOU DO
IT WILL TAKE AWAY THAT EMAIL AND YOU NEVER BE ABLE TO GET IT BACK.

2. Once you have removed the email from Account A and you have access to Account B including with the security proof you can sign into Account B at account.live.com/addassocid and click on the second option to add existing email to the account they will
send a verification email to that email to verify that you do have access to it. Once that is done and the email is added to Account B then you should be able to make that email the primary email on the account and remove the old email that you no longer have
access to.

Keep in mind that this is only changing the email used to sign into your MS account. Everything else will remain the same.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as just changing the e-mail; you need to go through the steps that Mister Quimby has linked for you if you want to keep both so that you can associate e-mail A (which is tied to account A) with Account B (which has e-mail
B associated with it). Because A is tied to an account, it cannot be used for another account.

If you don't want to keep both, you could try
closing/canceling the account associated with the e-mail that you want to use. Then the e-mail would no longer be associated with an account and should be available to you. Please note that you'll lose any licenses/content access associated with that account
if you close it.
