Two Xbox's in the house...

I have two XBox's in my house. I have one game CD/DVD that I have bought, in this case Destiny 2. How can I play this game on both consoles without buying a second game disk? I would also like to make sure that I can play with my kids on live while doing
so. Do I really have to pay for a second or third Live account inorder to play Xbox with my kids? Microsoft help has been sh1tty in this regard and I am hoping someone with a little bit of knowledge can assist me with this.

Xbox One games linked to one account? What about families?

two xbox's in my house. both adults. Not a family account. do they not want me to purchase two xbox's again? This is the major thing i have a problem with. and one of the major things that will determine whether we purchase X1 or not....

And yet there doesnt seem to be an offical update out since 4 December?

With discs you would need another copy in order to play it on another console. The disc has to be in the console in order to play to prove that you actually have the game and that would not be possible on a second console.

If you were to buy the game digitally, you would only have to purchase it once.

So if I bought the game as a digital download, I would be able to play it on all consoles that I own? Seems that if I have the license on one copy, Microsoft would be able to figure out that I own it (disk in one console) and the IP address would show that
the other console is in the same place.

With the Home setting on your console, you can share digital content and gold with any other accounts on that console. So if you owned the game digitally you would just need to set one of the consoles as your Home console so your kids could access it and
then you would still be able to access and play the game on the second console.

Discs don't have the same type of licensing so it's not possible to share disc based games like that. Otherwise people could just rent a copy of the game and leave a copy on their own console to keep playing without actually paying.

Ill try that again when I get home. I have tried every iteration of switching accounts, setting who's console is 'home'... you name it.
It always makes me choose one console over the other. Whats the point of even having two consoles if you can only play one at a time?

I miss the good old days of just enjoying playing games without accounts, internet access, subscriptions, lagging connections, constantly patching and updating, etc...

You would need to set the Xbox One as your Home in order to share your Gold with your son so he can use his account. Then you can sign in and play on your Series X.
