Two Xbox Ones, One House. Request Party Chat Setup Guide

Hi Forum,

I'm a long-time Xbox user that has never posted before. I am a gold member who just purchased an xbox one for my children. I set up profiles for each of them, and they are enjoying multiplayer through the home gold setup. I just tried to invite them to a
party and their xbox one says they need a gold account for party chat.

Before I consider whether to purchase 2 more gold accounts, I'd like to find out from you all if it is necessary to do so or if there is another way I was supposed to set up their accounts to get things to work. I'm set up as an adult and they have been added
to my "family" (one an adult and the other a child).

I'd also like to understand if there are any other set up problems that I'm likely to encounter so that I don't end up buying gold accounts only to reach another hurdle that I can't overcome.

Intermittent but severe party chat issues with two Xbox Ones on same network

We have two Xbox Ones in the house. Prior to maybe 6 months or so ago we didn't particularly have any issues with this setup. It's difficult to pinpoint when the issue started because the problem is intermittent, and also sometimes other issues affect party
chat.

We both like to use party chat, and be in the same party. There's only ever two of us online in our house at once, sometimes both on Xbox Ones, sometimes one or both on a PC using Windows 10 and the Xbox app.

The issue seems to manifest in a number of ways (if it is the same root cause) but the most common is that we will be able to hear each other, but everyone else shows as "connecting" on the party to us. Our friends are still all able to talk to each other,
but we show as "connecting" to them. Less commonly we also experience these issues:

• We are individually able to hear different members of the party - eg. I will be able to only hear one particular friend, and not hear my partner who's in the same house, but the friend can still hear everyone.
  
• One or both of us is silently "kicked" from the party, and if we go to the party chat screen we see an error saying party chat is not available right now. We are typically able to rejoin the party right away when this happens. Our friends remain unaffected.
  

Since we have two Xbox Ones we are obviously not able to forward ports. We have, however, set up port triggering for the relevant ports for party chat and the games that we play regularly.

Are there any useful steps I can take to debug this issue?

 

12 person party chat now available

So later today it started rolling out now, on the xbox one and windows 10, we will get access to 12 person party chat. (also note that your console will not update/ xbox app)

If you are in the New Xbox One Experience Preview, you’ll be getting an update later today that adds a few new features:

• Party text chat adds more communication options. In the New Xbox One Experience, text chat joins voice chat as a way to communicate with your friends. At the bottom of the ‘Your Party’ page, you will see a button to ‘Show text chat.’ This will let you participate in the conversation. Party text chat will also come to the Beta Xbox App for Windows 10.
• A streamlined Game DVR experience. We have combined the functionality of the Game DVR snap app and the former Upload app into one easy-to-use app called Game DVR. In full screen mode, you can use this app to view your game clips and screenshot captures. When snapped, you can use Game DVR to start or stop recordings.
• New animated avatars. They are back and better than ever. You showed us that you are passionate about Avatars with many requests on Xbox Feedback. The new avatars will be animated on your profile and will start showing up in other new places in the new experience. If you prefer a gamerpic, you can easily switch your image.
• Updated menu for quick access to common actions. The menu button on your controller lets you pin an app or game to Home, launch a recently played game, or quit an app or game with just the touch of a button.
• Access new settings in the Guide. Adding to settings already included in the guide, like adjusting the headset volume, you can now turn your console off or restart your console directly from the Guide.

Before you buy new xbox gold I would test with xbox gold trials - there are many games out there who gives you a gold account for 1-3 days.

The only Issue you can get is - your Router doesn't support multiple xboxes. It is the way UPnP is implemented if you can run multiple xboxes on the xbo live Network or not.

I would check the Internet fpr people who run 2 or more xboxes with open NAT an which router they use.
