  1. Two Xbox Ones and one external drive - cannot see installed games on second Xbox

I have two Xbox Ones and I'd like to share one external drive between them. I thought that since I'm using the same Live account I would be able to see the games/apps installed when I connected the drive to either Xbox. Both Xboxes recognize the drive and
the free space available but I can only see the installed games on the original machine the game was installed on. Is this normal? This includes digitally downloaded games and those installed from disc.

    :)

Does anybody here have a second Xbox One with an external hard drive they can swap between the two? Anyone test this out?

  3. External hard drive problems

I was playing Xbox one evening and my console froze, so I restarted and tried playing again, most of my games were installed on my external hard drive. I tried playing every game I had on my external hard drive and none would start.

I completely reset my console and external hard drive, i installed games on my internal hard drive and they all work, but the games I installed on my external hard drive still do not work.

I believe this is normal as the machine id is probably recorded as part of the digital rights management.

I used to work in drm and alot of these things do happen.

    Hope it helps.

    Copy games/savegames to Series S

One thing I personally cannot say for certain is if those games loading from the external hard drive will run the same way they would if they were installed straight onto the console...
If you load games on the Series X or S from an external hard drive they will load the same as they do on a regular Xbox One. There won't be any performance issues. Games installed on a external SSD (SATA SSD not the Expansion Card) will load faster then
they would before due to the much faster I/O on the Series X/S.

If you move your games to either the internal storage or the optional Expansion card, you will see significant loading speed improvements. They'll be massive on a game such as Odyssey. Fast traveling in 5 seconds rather than 40 on a regular Xbox One or One
    X!

To use the Series X/S 'Quick Resume' on Xbox One or other BC games will require said games to be installed internally or to the Expansion Card. Series X/S games can only be installed on the Internal or Expansion card.

    Thanks for clarifying bomberr3!

To check, are you installing the game to your Xbox One or do you have an external drive that you're installing to? If you're installing to an external storage device, let's try switching over to your Xbox One to see if there's any change. Keep us in the
    loop :)
