Two wired controllers using the same player indicator

I have the same problem. I have two wired controllers and two wireless controllers. It does not matter what order I put connect them. The two wired controllers always take the same player number. Do I just need to buy a third wireless controller to get four
players?

Everything that I find indicates that you need two controllers for two players.

That should work. I've played Halo: Reach on a setup with two players on the same console using two Xbox controllers with wired headsets and we were able to chat during game play on line. Have you tried it with other games?

Same problem here. This just started yesterday on the 360 slim with two wired SCUF controllers.

I don't recall this happening before, but then I don't think I ever had used two wired controllers at once.

Unplugged, reset, but still same problem.

It doesn't do this with a GameSpot wired controller with a SCUF wired one though.

This is a problem my son has had for several months. It is mentioned by many people on the internet, and I find it hard to believe Microsoft cannot replicate the issue, and own up to the issue. Come in Microsoft we need a solution and it is not possible
for everyone to return them to a retailer.
