    Two Weeks, Two Controllers, Kaput

My God . . . I have only had my Xbox One for two weeks, and am having this issue, so I googled it and can't believe how many others are! I am an adult gamer that has never thrown, smashed, or anything remotely close to abuse my controller. I mainly play
FIFA '14, and I noticed my players would suddenly just quit moving in the middle of the game, or continue on a running path that I had not sent them on. With my system having only came with one controller, I purchased a used one from eBay and have only had
that one for a few days. I noticed an immediate difference with the new (used) one and figured I just had gotten a faulty controller in the first place. Then tonight, I started seeing the same mannerisms, and then heard something shaking around in it! To
my first controller's credit, there is no shaking sound, but both seem to have the same issue with the left stick. I guess my question is. What am I to do now? Here I am having spent half a grand, and I have two controllers that don't work. Am I expected
to just keep buying new ones once every week when this happens??

    :)

    almost two weeks????

Okay. As for the private forum access, that does take time as Caelan63 stated. The Public Beta Registrator also states that even though you are "IN" that means that you are "IN" the queue for the update. Once the update is available to your gamertag (they
come in waves, not all at once) you will receive an update on your console.

Until then, wait it out. It'll be worth itTwo Weeks, Two Controllers, Kaput :)

Chances are you may of bought a faulty used controller too tbh. You probably should of just bit the bullet and bought a new controller with a warranty, then sent your original controller in to be replaced.

I appreciate the condolences on my issue, but not sure why people whose controller's are fine are responding? Congratulations guys, but you are obviously not my targeted audience. I'd rather hear from people who are experiencing the same issue, and if
you do a quick google search, it's pretty apparent this is far from an isolated occurrence with these controllers. What I want to know, is what I can do about it, other than returning them every time they tear up. I am guessing Microsoft will want me to
send my original one in, but if I had it happen on two controllers in two weeks, I just don't want to be put in a position where I'm constantly replacing, getting refunds, sending them back, etc . . . Never had any issues with my 360 Controllers in five years.
So again, good on you if yours works fine . . . if others who have suffered the same unfortunate fate as myself have any solutions, let me know.

Chuck, to be frank, I think you're mistaken. The reason you're seeing a lot of the same on Google when you do a search is because people are far more likely to complain about issues online when they have issues rather than praising something that works great
    - this is true for virtually anything. However, in reality, the majority of consumers that bought the product (in this case, the controller) don't have any issues whatsoever and have no reason to post about it online. Although I realize you're trying to reach
a "targeted audience" you're not going to find very many compared to those that work.

As Burnin, Genchi, and Goat have all pretty much already said - my controllers have been working just fine; and as they have already explained - you probably just had a run of bad luck and should buy brand new with a warranty.

I find that the controllers are a lot more sturdier now than they were when they first released the console. It's entirely possible that the used controller you got was not only used, but that it was a "console release" designed controller and that your
"new" controller was possibly a refurbished and repackaged controller sent back into the wild by MS; I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that to save a few pennies themselves.

@Chuck people responding with "my controller works" etc are helping to point out its an isolated occurrence.

You have not given details of exact controller failure (please exclude the second hand one which could have been broken)

It sounds like battery or interference failure. Usually when this occurs you run in one direction or start spinning etc, like you made a movement then the signal dropped. To check simply plug in the USB cable and go wired to see if it is this. If it is the
stick then you should send the original off straight away before it lapses manufactures warranty. I would also try another game to see if it does the same thing Two Weeks, Two Controllers, Kaput :)

  10. Hi chuck I also have had this problem on three controllers now also playing Fifa Microsoft are aware of this it has been a common fault and will replace it but yes you will have to send it back each time, unless you buy a official controller from a
store that then gives you the stores 12 month return policy to get it back there and get a exchange there and then. Your not on your own the controller needed be made stronger to sort this problem there is no easy fix

  11. Are you guys sure this is an issue with the controller and not FIFA? That sounds like a common trend that I'm seeing here...

@Chuck. I'm not sure what you want people to say. You asked what you're supposed to do now? Well, you could start by sending your controller in to be replaced.... Just like I already said. As for the second controller? Maybe contact the seller and explain
they sold you a faulty item, they may be nice enough to give you a refund. Apart from this, there isn't much you can do. It doesn't sound like the consoles at fault but you could always contact support and explain what's happening?

Also, just a suggestion. The controllers use a former of WiFi to connect to the console. I know normal WiFi can be affected by other equipment between the lines of the WiFi, electrical equipment could cause interference and also baby monitors are especially
bad. Not 100% this could cause issues but it's worth making sure nothing is in the line of controller to console.

To be specific, the controller that came with my Assassin's Creed Bundle worked fine for a few days before I started noticing the aforementioned erratic movement on FIFA. I even wondered if perhaps, it had been like that all along and I had just not noticed?
lol . . . Then I received the used one that I purchased in the mail, and it showed me that No, it had not been that way all along, and I realized that this is the way my players are actually supposed to move. Again, I did not drop it, throw it, abuse it
in any way, but it suddenly developed the rattle I spoke of, and I've seen this featured in several posts on the xbox forum so I figured this could be common. After the rattle began, I began experiencing the same issue with my players suddenly stopping movement,
or continuing on in straight lines. Yes, the used controller could have been, refurbished, or whatever, as the fella selling them seems to have an endless supply of them (they come with no back, and missing the middle screw that is featured in the battery
    pack).

I have tried playing with the USB cord connected, so I'm not sure it's a WiFi issue, but I do have the aftermarket Nyko Battery packs and could attempt to search if others have had problems with them, but as I mentioned, both controllers worked fine with
said battery packs prior to the apparent malfunction.

Regarding other games, it's not as noticeable but there's not as much constant fluid motion in Black Flag as there is on FIFA, but that's not to say that mishaps still don't occur when I'm trying to be stealth haha.

At any rate, I contacted the Ebay seller regarding the used controller, so I guess now I have to figure what to do with the original. I'm guessing returning it to Microsoft to be repaired (Despite the fact that there is no rattle, or no noticeable damage,
other than during gameplay?) I'm assuming Walmart won't take it back individually as it came with a bundle.
