Two PC on same local network - XBox App conflicts

Problem: Friend is shown "offline" in XBox App, when playing a game.

I checked all the privacy setting on both accounts ten times already.
It's NOT a matter of privacy settings
    :

In the XBox App, my friend is shown "offline", also she is playing "Sea of Thieves". If I check my friend list via the XBox website, she is shown me as "Sailing the Seas". A privacy matter wouldn't give me two different results in the App and the WebGUI.

We are on the same local network. So I expect there to be some kind of network conflict.

We can both play at the same time without problems in same session, in different sessions, different games, not matter what. Only problem is the status "offline".

Usually I wouldn't care too much about this fact, but in "Sea of Thieves" you can not (re)join a game of your friends, while they are shown "offline".

We both can invite/join other friends on our list, but we can not join/invite eachother.

The problem is in both directions. She sees me as "offline" as son as I start the game as well.

    Any ideas on this?

    EDIT:

Both PC on Windows 10, XBox App up-to-date. Running the XBox App Network Diagnostics results in no errors/problems on both PCs.

    :)

    Disconnecting problem

Is UPnP on? That's the only way to let two Xboxen connect on same network.

Make sure Port Forwards and DMZ are disabled, they conflict w/ UPnP.

    System Requirements

Basically you are running an app to stream your entire Xbox to your local PC.

Even though Game streaming is done over your local network, your PC still need the resource to be able to run the app - the concept is similar to playing a graphic intensive game on your mobile phone.

    Same problem here...

I'm also trying to invite friends while playing Sea of Thieves.

I see them online, but when I select their profile it says offline under their profile names. and it doesn't give me the option to invite them.

There was a moment for me when it worked but I have no idea what happened since.

I know there is that circle you need to click to join back in a session, but it doesn't show up for me anymore.

Most Windows 10 Xbox App users I speak have this same problem. It is either Sea of Thieves related or Xbox related.

*Was gonna post a forum thread too but I will just follow this post.

    Hi Drogomm,

Let's try to isolate this issue so that we could figure out as to why you and your friends show offline on the Xbox app and Sea of Thieves. It is possible that both of you appear offline in the game because of a network issue. When you checked the network
connection on the Xbox app, can you tell us the NAT type and Server connectivity it shown? Also, have you tried connecting your computers on another network?

In the meantime, let's try to reset the Xbox app by performing the following steps below:

    1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard, and then click the Settings icon.
    2. Select System, and then select Apps & features.
    3. Find the game, and then click on Advanced options.
    4. Click Reset.
    5. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect

We look forward to our reply.

    Checked on both PCs.

    NAT Type: Open

    Server Connectivity: Connected

I did a reset of the XBox App and Sea of Thieves, restarted the PCs: Same result.

Further, I tried to connect via another network. I used my mobile phone and established an internet connection via USB tethering. NAT Type switches to "Strict" then and the problem persists.

Let me please explain the sympthomes a bit more in detail as they are pretty confusing:

Within the XBox App you have (at least) four instances, where you can see the status of people.

    1. Friend List

    2. Profiles

    3. Party List

    4. Invite List (where you can choose to invite to "party" or "game")

Sometimes I see a few people "online" in my friend list or if I click on their profile or if they are in my party. It feels random, as I did not change anything for this to happen.

    But:

    - Stati in Friend List in my Xbox App was never synchron with the Friend List on the Xbox Website (i.e. on Website: 5 friends online with detailed status; in App: 2 friends online).

    - What I see in the Friend List does no match the Profiles. I can see some people in Friend List online, but if I click on their Profile, they appear offline.

    - People that where "online" just a second ago, appear "offline" after they joined my party

    - Lastly: The Invite List. I never ever saw anybody in that list with any other status than "offline". Sometimes this list is completely empty, sometimes I can see all my friends there, but "offline". I can select an offline friend and click on "(invite to)
party" and they receive the invite and can join. But the "(invite to) game" button remains grayed out, so you can not invite to game. The same Invite List also opens within the game, when you are in the match making screen. There I see everybody "offline"
as well, but you can still send the game invite and they can join. Unfortunatly, once the game/match is started, you can not open this list anymore, but you have to rely on the Invite List in the Xbox App, which has the grayed out buttons.

If I click on "Refresh" in the Xbox App is usually results in a Friend List with everybody "offline", also there are people online (seen on Website). If I click on "Refresh" a second time, I get the error message "Could not display friends now. Please refresh."
    almost all the time.

Two PC on same local network - XBox App conflicts

    I tried all the solutions.

Solution 1: The troubleshooter found some "broken cache" in the Store App. After the troubleshooter fixed it and rebooted, I ran it again and it found the same problem again.

Well, a broken cache in the Store App shouldn't affect the functionality of the profile pages in the XBox App too much, right?

Solution 2: I play on a clean Windows 10 installation. Nothing installed except Windows 10, Sea of Thieves and some Voice Chat tools. Tried it anyway, but there was not much to deactivate for clean boot.

Solution 3: Tried this as well on both PCs.

After doing all these, I was able to select the "invite to game" option one time and it worked. But as soon as I hit the "Refresh" button, everything was back to the previous state: user "offline" on the profile page, no "invite to game" available.

I wonder on what ports the friend list and profile pages are synchronizing with the XBox server.

There are some static port forwarding rules active on my router, which do not forward to my PCs, but to a server. Maybe they are in conflict with the required ports?

I appreciate your reply. It is also possible that the issue is caused by a network conflict that affects your Xbox accounts status to appear offline. You can check if the following ports are open on your router to make Xbox Live work:

    • Port 88 (UDP)
    • Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
    • Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
    • Port 80 (TCP)
    • Port 500 (UDP)
    • Port 3544 (UDP)
    • Port 4500 (UDP)

If you're getting the same result, I recommend that you contact our
    Xbox Support
team to further investigate this issue.

Let us know if you need clarifications.
