Two household Xbox ones and tips to manage games

Ok... I have a specific question that I can't find an answer to and I also could use some tips...

I recently bought a second Xbox so my wife and I can play online together. My original Xbox one is in the spare room and "her" new one is in the living room.

I'm trying to figure out the most economical way to play Destiny together. I plan on getting all of the DLC BTW.

I'm wondering if I made her Living room console the Home console, and I bought the game digitally, would she be able to play it in the living room while I played it at the same time in the bedroom? Would this allow me to use one purchased copy?

    How about the DLC?

Also, we both have Xbox Live Gold accounts. If I make the living room the home box, would we be able to game together this way if I let her subscription lapse? Can the home box play multiplayer games while the gold user is online playing at the same time
    on another box?

    Thanks for the help

    :)

Two Xbox Ones in same household. How to manage Xbox Live?

The sharing feature (in use with the Home gamertag) is localized only. This means that if your brother had the Gold membership and was set as Home on the console and had you in his family you were able to share out the membership with no issues.

In order for you to play online on the new console you would either have to have your brother set the new console as his Home console or purchase a Gold membership of your own.

If the games were purchased on your brothers gamertag then setting his tag as Home on the new console will also allow you to access and play those games at the same time as he is playing.

In order for you to each play online - you will need your own seperate xbox live accounts. In addition, you'll each need a copy of the game you wish to play or a digital license for each game on each xbox live account.

Update... I just made the living room box the Home box and tried my digital copy of titan fall and it worked. She could play the digital copy the same time as me and in the same multi-player match while I was in the bedroom which is now an "away" box. I
assume this is the same with Destiny?

If this continues to work it makes the digital copy more attractive for a two box household.

  5. you are correct about home console:

when you purchase with your account you can Play with your account anywhere and any Profile can Play on your homeconsole, though this is meant to enable your friends to Play on your specific xbox it would work the way you wish it to. BUT because you only
purchase it once and use it on 2 profiles at the same time MS could consider this to be marketplace theft.

You cannot purchase a digital copy and play it on 2 xbox live profiles at the same time. You can however play it at the same time, as you did, Nukemzzz, with a clear conscience. Microsoft is well aware of this "workaround" - a friend playing the game on
your home console while you play the same game on the away console. And I agree, this does make digital copies more attractive. The same works for the PS4 and for the life of me don't understand why MS and Sony aren't advertising this known feature. This does
not guarantee, of course, that either company won't decide to negate this wonderful feature in the future.

I should add that trying to play Titanfall in a private lobby in this way has been unsuccessful for me.
