Two controllers with chat headsets on same Xbox. Can they chat?

When I have a split screen game going and the two players join a party (with others not on the same console) we cannot seem to hear any chat. Should the local players be able to hear each other through the headset? Or do they only hear the party chat from
people on the other consoles? So far it is not working.

2 headsets 1 headache!!

That should work. I've played Halo: Reach on a setup with two players on the same console using two Xbox controllers with wired headsets and we were able to chat during game play on line. Have you tried it with other games?

 

Am I using the headset adapter wrong?

This may be a bit off topic, but does anyone know if you can use two headsets via two controllers w chat adapters at the same time on the same xbox one console? I've been asking Microsoft and turtle beach and searching forums everywhere, but no answers...

 

Hey wifeignorer (lol), I can't answer your question but do have a question for you.. I do know from the 360 that guests cannot chat, if that helps. Unsure of separate gamertags.

Are the audio feeds separate with 2 stereo headset adapters? For example: playing a 2 player coop/mp, does the audio for player 1 go through p1 controller and p2 through p2 controller? A way to check is move far away from one another and one player shoot
and the other shouldn't be able to hear/be as loud as the others.

I already own 1 adapter and was thinking of buying another.

 

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, the audio feeds are separate. So if we have to controllers on split screen each with a stereo headset plugged in then they get their own audio. It's pretty cool actually.

 

So, digging up the past here cause i can't find the answer.... I have my GT and My wifes GT (no offense Wifeignorer) and we both have sound/chat headsets and adapters.... but she can't talk while in party chat, just i can (gold profile)

what gives? is it possible for two people, one box?
