Two consoles one house, family account.

I have my son as a family member (child) on my Microsoft account; we currently have one Xbox and we switch accounts as needed.

However we'd like to play online together - he'd enjoy whipping me in Fortnite, I'd hold his hand through ESO. We obviously need another Xbox - could I log in to my console downstairs and play ESO with my son logged into his child account on his Xbox upstairs?
What would I need to do to make this work?

However, keep in mind that he will need his own account, otherwise, he will log you out every time he tries to play one of your games as one account cannot be signed into two Xbox One consoles at once.

One last question - do you mean he needs his own separate Microsoft account or can he continue to use his child account as part of my Family?

I think this depends on how you Setup your home xbox and the account that owns the game you intend on playing.

OK - thanks. All of the games we own have been purchased from my account and are shared with my son who is a family member on my account. This includes our Live membership.

If you already have a child account setup for him under your family that is all you will need that is actually considered his own MS account.
