Two boys. One Xbox Account. One Xbox One. --> Two boys. One Xbox Account. Two Xbox Ones

I have two boys (13 and 15) who have been using the same Xbox account on one Xbox One for years. They play different games (Minecraft vs Star Wars) and have built up a ton of achievements, accomplishments, etc, etc. And they always fight over who gets Xbox
    time.

So we thought the simple solution was to buy another Xbox so they could do their own thing when they want. But 12 months later they still fight over who gets Xbox time because no one wants to "start over" with a new Xbox account on the 2nd Xbox One and lose
all their achievements, history, etc, etc.

I've read over and over that you can't move or merge one account into another so that doesn't seem to be a solution.

    Any suggestions?

    :)

I think having them both start over is a good option, they can compete starting on an even playing field then. Good luck

Unfortunately, hindsight being 20/20, it would have been best if they both started off on their own accounts/Gamertags from the very beginning. This happens sometimes with couples as well though, boyfriends/girlfriends or husband/wife playing on the same
Tag, and then if they eventually part ways, one of them will lose their gaming history on it.

The only fair solution here is for them to both start their own separate accounts, create their own separate Gamertags and start fresh on them. They can both keep the login for this shared tag, and they will both always have it there to look back on and
be proud of and show friends etc. But from here forward, I would definitely say for them to both start their own separate Gamertags. The day is coming when they would eventually have to anyway, as they will eventually reach the age of 18+ and one of them,
if not both of them eventually, will move out on their own and begin their own lives apart from each other. So they can't keep sharing this account beyond a few more years anyway. Separate Tags are in their near future, no matter what, as they grow into adults.
So, might as well do it now.

Like I said, their old accomplishments and achievements and game history isn't going anywhere. Emphasize that to them. It will always be there for them to still have access to, and look back on, and will still be something that they did and can show friends
or family. If they are particularly proud of a game they played on the shared tag, there is always the option to replay it again on their separate tag. People do that all the time; it's not unheard of. They will eventually get used to their "own" Tag and find
it something to be even more proud of, because it's ALL theirs. That's really the only fair way to do it, so one doesn't keep the older tag and the other has to start over with 0G and no history.
This is a fantastic answer and an amazing idea! it is definitely the only fair solution. To make this even 'fairer' they could always gameshare with each other too. This way, if you buy digital games, they both have access to that one purchase instead
of having to buy two separate games. This also works with Xbox Live Gold and Gamepass and you wouldn't need to buy two separate subscriptions.

Sorry bud. My dad and I had this same problem a while back. We always played on the same account from 2008 or so. As I got older and moved out and got my own Xbox, he didnt mind restarting as he doesnt play as much
