    Please define what a promotional balance is and this is the first time i redeemed a gift card on my microsoft account i bought the gift card off of amazon and then subsequently was sent a confirmation email in which i redeemed it from there but ever since ive done that I cannot access my 20 usd

    Hi, usually the promotional balance is some money that Xbox sends sometimes for free
    But it seems that’s not your case.

    In this situation the best option is reach Microsoft support via chat or callback
    In that way they can see what’s going on with your balance / why do you have two separate amount of money with the same currency
