Twitch Host Mode Arrives!

Say hello to Host Mode - a new way to share awesome content with your chat community and promote other great live streams.

Host mode gives a broadcaster the opportunity to host another channel on his or her own channel page. Any broadcaster can host another channel, and any channel can be hosted.

In order to start Host Mode, simply type /host channelname into chat. For example, if you want to share the Twitch Weekly show, you would type /host twitch into chat.

The selected broadcast will begin streaming on your channel, and your viewers will be able to follow, subscribe (if a Twitch Partner), and navigate to the hosted channel at any time. Any viewers from your channel page will be attributed to the hosted
channel while in Host Mode. When you’re ready to exit Host Mode, type /unhostinto chat and your channel will return to normal.

Too bad if they don't do it, this will make me think about to get the new gears is coming in february

 

Great for grouping.

I am assuming that it only allows for one friends channel at a time but if increased this types of updates could put those expensive third party stream share softwares a out of business.

its definitely a step in the right direction.

 

Q1: If a stream is being hosted, is it still being streamed on its original channel at the same time?

Q2: Can 1 stream be hosted by multiple channels (in effect giving that particular stream a much larger audience)?
