TV Tuner with cable box

Hey there,

before i buy a xboxone digital tvtuner i wanted to make sure that its of use for me. I already have a cable box with CI slot connected to my Xbox and its working really well so far. I wanted to use the tv streaming to my Android tablet though. Thats the
only purpose a xbox tvtuner would have for me. I am not able to use my TV without the cable box because of the encrypted HD chanels i need the keycard= CI slot for. So i wanted to connect the cable reciever to the Xbox digital TV Tuner. Has anyone tried
to connect a cable box to the Tuner yet? Does it work? Its really important for me to know as my wife keeps me from playing while she watches her TV shows ☺

Is there any USB TV Tuner (or any TV tuner really) that will play clear QAM on Xbox One? I downgraded my cable TV and they took my cable box back. I still get cable TV through my coaxial. Really want to watch my cable TV through my Xbox One without paying
the cable company for a cable box. Thanks

Xbox One and TV with built-in tuner

I also have a Samsung tv with a built in tuner, however the Xbox One TV tuner is what you need to get OTA tv through the Xbox via oneguide without the need for a set top box, which is what I have running with no problems. If you are looking to get cable
channels without a box, that's a totally different animal though.

the iView STB and other set top boxes also have a QAM tuner, meaning it would use cable TV, not OTA.

Yes, you can connect a Freeview HD box and control it via HDMI passthrough.

Yes, you can connect an aerial to the TV Tuner to receive the Freeview channels and control them with your voice. You can see more on that on our

Xbox One Digital TV Tuner support article.

The TV Tuner can only access unencrypted terrestrial and cable content, not encrypted or satellite signals. You should be able to connect your satellite or cable box to the HDMI connection and have it set up that way.

@phantom2k83 I think they meant places where the TV tuners were not already supported. I already do it with 360 and a freeview tuner, quite a lot of people do. Media centre has being doing this for years. Some places have not got digital TV though, they
will have to wait probably. If it didn't work in the UK MS would be going backwards. LOL
