TV took too long to start error

We got this error for the first time today on our Day One Edition.

Prior to this error we noticed last night when we told the Xbox to turn off that it failed to turn off the Tv and Cable box as is normal.

We have Comcast Xfinity Motorola Box and a Samsung Television.

We tried powercycling the Xbox to no effect.

We tried powercycling and unplugging the cable box to no effect.

We eventually unplugged the power on the Xbox and this fixed the issue.

Xbox one tv stopped working.

agreed, with error that says "For some reason TV took too long to start. (0x8027025a)"

Xbox One does not change channels on Dish VIP722K

I have the same problem. Also sometimes I get the error message TV took too long to start, and all I get is the TV icon on the main tile. The way to fix the TV took too long to start problem for now is to disable your xbox on command.

I'm not a mod, but I can tell you this happens to me at least once a week on my Day One Edition. For me powercycling the Xbox One always has worked (holding down the power button on the system for about 10 seconds). I really haven't had a solid answer
from anyone else that has this problem, but my thoughts are you'll have to keep doing it until an update rolls out. I'm hoping an update fixes it. For me, sometimes the XB1 will just stop controlling my TV and cable box as well... so at least you don't have
that problem.

I came on here to look this up. Really really hope Microsoft gets this addressed in the update. The issue seems to be connected to the power mode. If you use "power saver" mode you will never have this issue. When you are on "instant on" mode it seems
like normal function times out and you start getting the error. You can tell when it has happened because when you turn on your xbox it will not turn on the tv or cable box as it should. If this happens you will def get the "took too long to start error".

You can always fix it by switching to "power save" mode and cycling the power as suggested by Swangod.

Microsoft mods - this really needs to get fixed. I love watching tv through the xbox however when this happens it can take quite a bit of time to reset and get the app working again. (especially in comparison to the old fashioned way where you just turn
on your tv.)

I have one other possible suggestion you may wish to try before sending the console in for service, but before offering my suggestion, it would be helpful to know if this issue began after the most recent Xbox system update (most recent update taking place
on or after July 9, 2019)?

And also, is your son's console enrolled in the Xbox Insider Program (a program allowing console owners to test early versions of the OS ahead of general release)?
