  1. TV sound only in stereo

Ok this has been driving me bonkers since launch. My setup is as follows

Virgin tivo into xbox one into Sony str dg820 av amp into telly, all connected via HDMI.

I have tried every setting combo I can think of and am still only able to get stereo when watching tv. Sound on the xbox is fine and I can have it in 5.1 or DTS and it all works but as soon as I put the tv on it just outputs it in stereo and my amp won't
allow me to mix it into any other speakers. I've tried the surround beta but it makes no difference I even have the new beta update and still no joy.

Has anyone else encountered this problem with virgin TiVo or am I just being stupid. Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

HELP, Only stereo sound for, TV, DVD, Bluerays, Games by Xb1 HDMI, all others work in 5.1 not connected to Xb1.

Using the Xb1, I hooked up my HD cable box in the HDMI input, Xbox1 to TV, TV optical out to my receiver and Im only getting stereo sound. The TV is optical out is set to Raw. The 360 plays DVD and games in full 5.1 DTS through the receiver. I've gone though
the settings in Xb1, When I hook up my Cable box directly to my TV the receiver kicks in full surround, but when Hooked back up to Xb1 it's only stereo.

Even blue rays on Xb1 only play in stereo and not full 5.1 DTS, Dobly, just stereo. Is it me, or is the Xb1 that crappy of a sound decoder that it only does stereo? I love the XB1 but I had stereo sound on a SNES. If I am missing a set up, please let me
know, I like the Xb1 cable options but when watching movies it sucks cause of the stereo sound and not full 5.1

    Tv is a 42" LED 1080p 120hz Insignia

    Sony STR-DA333ES receiver

Playing a BD in the PS3 sound works fine, put it in Xb1 and it is only stereo, please help me get it set to Dobly, DTS 5.1

    Thanks

    Audio problem!!

    Hello,

I just got my xbox 360 s today and set it up properly i believe. I have an old crt tv and a old stereo shelf system. The tv has 3 sets of audio/video inputs and the stereo

has only 1 video output. i play the 360 thru my stereo and all i get is mono sound from the left speaker only and its very crackly. Now if i turn off the stereo and just turn

the tv speakers on everything sounds fine. Sound thru both tv speakers and no crackly hissing sounds. However when I watch my tv thru my stereo everything is fine,

watch a movie, everything is also fine. I had a Wii hooked up the same way and it worked fine thru my stereo speakers. So i unfor do not know what could be the

issue?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Steve

I have the exact same issue. Virgin TiVo going into Xbox one via HDMI, then HDMI to 5.1 receiver, then HDMI to TV. No 5.1 from the Virgin TiVo movie channels, but everything else is fine.

There is a fix currently in the April update preview for this. It was listed as a resolved issue two builds ago:

Fix for LiveTV audio outputting in stereo instead of surround sound.

Once the release goes GA (sorry I don't know when this is, we don't know until usually a night or two before the push) the issue should be resolved for you.

There are TWO place where you have to change the setting to Surround. The first is in the main audio menu, which I assume you found.

Next you must go to the "TV and OneGuide" setting section to enable surround sound for Live TV.
