    What has that got to do, with scaling to a 1920x1080 screen...??? As far, as I'm aware, Digital CableTV is broadcasted in 1080i/50Hz & a DVD uses the full screen, for viewing a movie...

    The reason why, they use Letterbox viewing in DVD movies, is because, they are trying to view it in a 2+:1 Widesreen Ratio etc..

    Tv settings

    To take advantage of the color depth of HDR, choose the "10-bit" option.

    Your TV will need to support HDR10 for this option to appear.

    You should read carefully next time. 1024 (1024 x 576) applies to PAL DVD and 853 (853 x 480) applies to NTSC. DVD (IF THE PIXELS WERE SQUARE). 1024 and 853 are compressed into 720, which is why widescreen DVDs have resolution of 720/704 x 576 and 720/704
    x 480. There's mo such thing as Panorama Screens because it has nothing to do with physical hardware. I suppose no matter what I pose you're going to post something stupendous so I'm done.

    You tries to derail it earlier with your "LAMO" comment, so you're equally guilty as nano.. There's nothing wrong with being corrected. Take it like a man and move on mmmkay. As for nano, BD movies use square pixels (1:1), they are not anamorphic like DVDs.
    The fact of the matter is, 1024 x 768 can be 16:9 if the on-screen pixels (or the source pixels) are rectangular/non-square. There's no need to dive into aspect ratios.

    It is interesting, Nano, that none of the tables, from that Wikipedia entry you linked to, show a 1440x720 resolution.

    instead of being "stretched" or "squashed".
