TV/receiver no longer turning on/off when Xbox turns on/off

When you switch it over, are you leaving the Dish receiver turned on? Your Dish receiver may be sensing that the TV is off, since it's not receiving a signal from the TV. It is probably timing out. Try turning off the Dish receiver when you turn the Xbox
on, then turn it back on when you watch TV.

Odd cause mine only turns the TV on when it's not on, but doesn't turn the tv off. But my HDMI goes to my receiver, then the recievers HDMI goes to the TV and it still somehow manages to turn the tv on when everything is off. But it wont turn on/off the
receiver. It did turn the cable box on and off though. And my receiver doesn't have a Passthrough in it either. Kinda odd really.

Guess you have set up the xbox to turn on the tv and receiver. So it tries to do that when it is turned on (Xbox cannot sense that it is already on).

Your tv model responds to turn on/off with the same infrared signal. So when it is on, it will turn off and vice versa with the same command. That's not a fault/problem from the xbox but from the tv manufacturer.

So two options:

- always turn on the tv by turning on the xbox and turn the tv off by turning the xbox off

- or do not let the xbox turn on your tv and do that manually

I'm not getting the error code but my XBOX One no longer turns my receiver and TV on and off. It was perfect (and truly wonderful) for the first week and not it seems the IR blaster isn't working at all. Not only will it not turn my receiver and TV on
and off, the volume up/down command doesn't work...

So, I found a solution that worked for me. I had hdmi control for everything to turn off and turn on. I was getting the double power off. It turns out that it was my tv that was sending the extra off. Essentially, xbox told the receiver to turn off,
and then told the tv to turn off. then the tv (a Samsung) told the receiver to turn off again. so I told the tv to quit controlling things and it's worked since.
