TV picture will not show up during set-up

During the TV setup part, the live TV picture does not show up. It constantly changes from "looking for your TV picture..." to "let's watch TV" every five seconds. I've done the troubleshooting using this link Troubleshoot Video Performance | Xbox One Live TV and
still nothing is working. Any help would be appreciated.

Same thing was just happening to me, I tried what you said and success! Loving this console.

Even if it feels like the HDMI cables are in, hold the console and push. It's the wire; not the console.

I had this same issue and it was not a strong connection on the HDMI in port. It did seem like it was in all the way, but I was able to push it in further and the TV works great for me now.

 

Hey dwezel, 2 questions:

1) What's the make, model, and provider of your STB?

2) If you skip setup and go to full screen TV, you still have the same issues?

 

hey stud! i have a comcast cisco rng200 stb. i still have issues even with the full screen tv even skipping the setup. i'm on the phone with ms tech support now. it seems to be an issue with the stb, not the xbox one. thanks!

 

I had an RNG200N in my office for a while, and while it's fickle, it should actually work OK.

Sometimes you can fix things by just doing the following:

1) Do a hard reboot of Xbox One by pressing+holding power button

2) Hard reboot the RNG200N by pulling the power cord (while Xbox One is on)

Once the RNG gets a good HDMI handshake with the Xbox, it should behave pretty well.

 

thanks, stud! it seems there is an issue with it getting a good handshake. i'm going to try to talk to comcast tomorrow and see if i can get a new stb.

 

hey stud! after fiddling with various things and looking up the real equipment with comcast, i figured out i have a scientific atlantic rng200dvr. while the xbox one does communicate with the stb (it shows the menu on the screen and if i hit rewind it shows
rewind on the stb or if i hit play it shows play on the stb), it doesn't show the picture (just a black screen). any new suggestions to get the picture to show?

 

Hmmm, you tried my above suggestions?

If so, then try setting your STB to output Stereo PCM audio, not Dolby/Surround. You can also try explicitly setting the STBs resolution to 720p/1080i. You can do this by powering down the STB, then hitting the menu button to bring up the system menu (this
is how you do it on most Comcast STBs).
