Tv on and off with Xbox power on and shutdown

I recently bought an onn. brand tv (Walmart brand) and I cannot get my tv to turn on when I power on the Xbox or shut off when shutting down the console like it does with my other consoles and tv brands (Vizio and Samsung). I’ve gone through the auto setup and have looked up remote codes on websites and have put them in manually and some of the codes get accepted and the options for tv on and off with console on and off are selected but ultimately it does not work. I am just curious if anyone with an onn brand tv has been successful in getting this to work and what code you may have used. If this is an issue of non support for the tv because of the brand will Microsoft please look into this and rectify with a remedy? I’m sure there are quit a few of these TVs out in the wild by now (being a Walmart brand and not bad for what you get for what you pay) and I can’t be the only one who would love to use this feature like on other branded TVs. Any help is much appreciated and thank you in advance!

When I say "Xbox, Volume Up", the Xbox pops up the window saying it heard me correctly, but the TV doesn't change. Voice commands that the xbox acknowledges but don't work:

- changing volume

- toggle mute

- changing channels

- power on tv at startup

- power off tv at shutdown

And many more!

I'm starting to think that maybe my Kinect is broken.

Hi there,

be sure to check the TV settings that controls if the TV is shutdown when the console is shut down, be sure to set it up that the console won't turn the TV off when the console is powered off.

I'm not sure about the exact location in settings, but it is somewhere in the Display and Audio part if I recall correctly.

Ok, i've found out what was the problem.

If you "Turn Off" your Xbox by Pressing Xbox Button and take it afterwards from your power supply, the Disc-Bug will affect the Console with the next Start.

To avoid this, you have to shutdown the Xbox from Power Settings and chose "Full Shutdown".

I never realised before that "Turn Off" is not the same as "Full Shutdown".

Maybe it would be a great enhancement, if "Full Shutdown" becomes avaiable on the Xbox Quick Menu.

Full shutdown is the same as energy saver. A full shutdown completely disconnects the power. It is off
off. In the instant on puts it in a low power mode that allows it to be resumed within seconds, where a full shutdown requires the xbox to reload the Operating
system. I hope this helps
